Walz’s handling of unrest after George Floyd’s death coming under renewed scrutiny

In May 2020, as Minneapolis burned and grieved after the police murder of George Floyd, Tim Walz seemed backed into a corner.

The Minnesota governor was facing a barrage of criticism for not moving faster to restore order after the torching of a police station and numerous businesses. When Walz mobilized the state National Guard three days after Floyd’s death, the move garnered praise from the most unlikely of supporters: then-President Trump.

In a call with Walz and other leaders about a week after Floyd’s death, Trump remarked that “what they did in Minneapolis was incredible.”

“They went in and dominated, and it happened immediately,” Trump said, according to an audio recording of the call obtained by ABC News and other outlets.

Those comments and Walz’s decision-making in the immediate aftermath of Floyd’s death have taken on new significance in recent days, since Vice President Kamala Harris named Walz as her running mate.

After a whirlwind week on the campaign trail with Harris, the until recently little-known Midwestern governor kicked off his first solo campaign stop as a vice presidential candidate with a speech at a labor convention in Los Angeles this week.

Walz was less than two years into his governorship and still grappling with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic when Floyd was killed...

Any skeptics of Walz’s record need look only to the raft of “recent legislative victories” aimed at addressing “historic racial inequities” that will have a downstream impact on crime rates, Champion said.

Can anyone interpret that word-salad for me?

He “handled” it?

He encouraged it. His wife opened the windows to smell the burning tires.

Is a cop that made the arrest of a repeat fellon, who was on drugs, resisting arrest, and using counterfeit money in prison because of him?

Is this cop, who used a technique permissible at the time according to the PDs policies in prison because of him?

This cop, who has seen his rights violated, life put in danger, with multiple attacks on his life, one where he was stabbed something like 20 times, in prison because of him?

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/crime/chauvin-george-floyd-prison-stabbing-b2595909.html

If that is the case, then this guy is a spineless political suck that deserves to be in no position authority or power anywhere. He lacks the character of a true leader.

After watching the riveting documentary The Fall of Minneapolis, it’s obvious that the Deep state was looking to start a race for prior to the 2020 election, that they could blame on Trump.

And Minneapolis was the perfect place for it to happen. Liberal City with a liberal mayor. Blue State with corrupt liberal governor.

Allowing Minneapolis to burn for several days set the tone for the national riots.

Walz is an evil demagogue. 10 times worse than Farrakhan. The fat pasty face of nefarious White guilt.

If someone has played the St. Floyd card, that’s one of the most powerful in the entire “woke” deck.

No it isn’t. It will be the same scrutiny the Secret Service has come under.

“His wife opened the windows to smell the burning tires.”

And still brags about it to this day.

GEORGE FLOYD BOUGHT FENTANYL

GEORGE FLOYD INGESTED FENTANYL

GEORGE FLOYD KILLED HIMSELF

CHAVIN SHOULD NOT BE IN JAIL

Could you imagine the media defending a Republican like the LA Times is doing? They are misinterpreting Trump’s words on purpose. Trump was praising him after he finally called in the guard a few days after the rioting started. Trump always does things like that after someone finally does the right thing. The problem is that Walz let the city burn for 2 days before finally doing something.

At least his wife got to smell the burning tires through her open windows. That must count for something.

I don’t speak jive or word salad, so I cannot help with interpretation.

I am a little surprised that this is the LA Slimes. CNN started pulling away from harris-walz yesterday and today the slimes.

Something is up.

Something is up.

The bloom is coming off the rose.

For example, let's look at Walz's military service. On first glance, 24 years in the Guard is praiseworthy, but please, don't try comparing it to 24 years on active duty, usually with tours far away from home, mostly in dangerous places.

Except for CNN and MSNBC, there's some self-reflection taking place. These are not stupid people, though they avert their eyes to the truth most of the time. Harris and Walz have taken it as a bridge too far.

Chauvin is the textbook example of lynch-mob justice.

And all those involved, including Walz, knew this but went along or even promoted this for their own political benefit.

https://mn.gov/governor/newsroom/press-releases/?id=1055-477138

This is how the MSM is spinning it today: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/aug/08/tim-walz-george-floyd-killing-minneapolis-police It is in reality a disgusting distortion of justice, a failure in true leadership.

These are facts:

(1) Floyd was a violent criminal with 23 prior convictions.
(2) He was resisting arrest.
(3) He was using counterfeit money and had the police called on him by the store clerk.
(4) He was a big and powerful man, able to resist physically.
(5) He was on drugs.
(6) The police officer used a technique that while ugly, was authorized by the PD at the time.
(7) It is unclear as to the true cause of Floyd’s death because he had a pre-existing heart condition and was on drugs.

For that, a court sentenced Chauvin (no priors) to 21 years in prison. That is ridiculous.

I do believe the actions of Chauvin to be negligent, in that he had no concern for Floyd’s safety. IMHO, dismissal is appropriate, as is a record for involuntary manslaughter with a minimal prison sentence (6 months - 2 years, parole eligible). Part of the reason for the minimal sentence is that I would put him in isolation the entire time, for his own safety.

In the meantime he has been attacked several times while in prison, once stabbed 22 times and miraculously survived.

***People like Walz should be getting crushed by the media for their handling of this situation, not heralded as some racial and social justice warrior.***

But the MSM favors the Democrats, and every failure is made into a success story by our MSM.

I am by far not someone cheerleading the militarization of our police, the use of intel, the gross Constitutional violations (in due process and privacy)... I believe there are some serious issues with law enforcement in this country especially on the federal side, albeit they are not racially motivated systemically. The local PDs and especially the Sheriffs offices have their hands full and are less involved in these games. The problems this nation faces with law enforcement and our IC are that today they are aimed inward, overstep their Constitutional boundaries, are politically partisan, and used in what amount to political games as was the case with J6, the Trump tower wire taps, going after political allies, business partners, family member and personal friends of Trump, example: Gen. Flynn, Paul Manafort...

But the Cauvin case is obvious! This is a case where you had a bunch of politicians wringing their hands and sacrificing this cop on the racial/social justice altar. Nasty. That is no sign of character. True leaders have courage and they lead even if it is in a direction contrary to where the wind is blowing from at that moment. Walz proved himself an unprincipled scumbag on this issue.

Only reason Walz spent so much time in the National Guard was because it’s the only way he could do anything right he had to be told how to do it.
