Autism in boys linked to common plastic exposure in the womb
New Atlas ^ | August 8, 2024 | Paul McClure

Prenatal exposure to higher levels of bisphenol A, a plastic commonly found in water bottles and packaging and known to leach into our foods and drinks, has been linked to autism spectrum disorder in boys, according to a new study that also identified the biological mechanism underlying this link.

The risks of exposure to bisphenol A (BPA), an industrial chemical used in plastic manufacturing and found in a wide variety of plastic products, are well-documented. Known to leach out of plastics and into the foods and beverages we consume, studies have linked BPA to health issues primarily because it mimics the structure and function of the hormone estrogen, disrupting body processes such as growth, cell repair, fetal development, energy levels, and reproduction.

It's also been linked to neurodevelopmental disorders like ADHD and autism, also referred to as autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In a new study, researchers from The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health (The Florey) in Melbourne, Australia, have found a possible link between autism and exposure to BPA in the womb.

“Exposure to plastic chemicals during pregnancy has already been shown in some studies to be associated with subsequent autism in offspring,” said Professor Anne-Louise Ponsonby, head of Florey’s neuroepidemiology research group, who jointly led the study with research fellow Dr Wah Chin Boon. “Our work is important because it demonstrates one of the biological mechanisms potentially involved.”

It’s difficult for them to sit in school for 7 hours. They fidget, talk too much, get bored, etc... So of course teachers are bothered by them.

That was me in the 60’s..................

That’s called “Being A Boy”. Totally normal.

I am not surprised in the least about this, there is no doubt that many of the endocrinological and other issues today are due to exposure to various chemicals.

Lol I wondered what bullsquirt story Big Pharma would come up with, now that there’s so much coming out about their childhood jabs (72 currently).

No, Amish kids aren’t immune to cancer, diabetes and autism — and they aren’t vaccine-free, either

Government Scientist have found a correlation between death in boys and their mothers having an abortion in the womb.

Do the Amish experience Autism?

Yes, but at a much lower rate than the rest of society.

Yes, schools want boys to act like girls. It’s criminal.

To me they seem like normal boys. anyway, now they are going to be home-schooled.

That's the best possible outcome for them for a whole bunch of reasons. Every FReeper grandma and grandpa should be urging their kids to homeschool the grands. And helping where possible.

If there is any truth to this it strongly suggests that personality and preferences can be formed in the womb. Homosexuality and body dysmorphia might be neither genetic nor learned, but a result of an unhealthy environment during gestation.

This suggests there could be a "cure" for these conditions but saying so would be considered homophobic and transphobic

Modern classrooms and modern teaching is geared toward girls, who can sit for periods of time and do busy work and not have to get up and move to burn off energy.

So, naturally, being a boy who has a problem functioning in a girl-oriented classroom is going to be diagnosed as a problem student i.e. autism, ADD, whatever.

Homeschooling is a smart choice.

Is it the plastics or is it the SODA that comes in those plastics that is the real problem?

People drinking water.

Water is as close to a universal solvent as you can get.

Drinking water from store-bought bottles skyrocketed in the 80’s..............

LOL. Oh, yes. Let's trust the AP to deliver the truth re: the Amish and vaccines/autism.

Note that their "fact check" reads like a classic Snopes snow-job: "They also say studies have documented cases of autism, diabetes and cancer among the Amish, albeit at lower rates in some cases than the broader population and for reasons that are unrelated to their vaccination status."

Oh, unrelated, I'm sure.

By design?...............The chemicals mimic the effects of estrogen, so no discernable effect on girls.............

“Autism seems to be a “catch-all” diagnosis for schools..”

Probably right. The teachers and school administrators seem to be slackers. God forbid that they might have to actually DO something to help kids who might need extra attention because they fall above or below the “norm”.

It’s the same reason a lot of nurses request the graveyard shift. They can just read, sleep, or cruise the net.

More BS “science” — from same folks who “proved” that brain plaques are linked to alzheimers . Uh, that data was faked and misled scientific research for years. If a relative succumbs in the next few years it will be because of faked scientific results like that.

Via Perplexity AI search>>>>

To determine if a plastic container is free of Bisphenol A (BPA), you can check the recycling codes on the container. Here are the codes and their relation to BPA presence:

Code 1 (PET): Polyethylene terephthalate is often used for food containers and beverage bottles. It is considered safe and BPA-free.

Code 2 (HDPE): High-Density Polyethylene is used for milk jugs and detergent bottles. It is also BPA-free.

Code 4 (LDPE): Low-Density Polyethylene is used for shrink wraps and plastic bags. It is typically BPA-free.

Code 5 (PP): Polypropylene is used for yogurt containers and bottle caps. It is BPA-free.

Code 6 (PS): Polystyrene is used for disposable plates and cups. It is generally considered BPA-free.

Codes 3 (PVC) and 7 (Other): These may contain BPA. PVC is often used in pipes and some packaging, while code 7 is a catch-all category that includes polycarbonate, which often contains BPA.
Manufacturers may also label products as “BPA-free,” which indicates that the product does not contain BPA.

5 gallon water bottles>>>>

To determine if a 5-gallon water bottle is BPA-free, you should look for the plastic resin identification code on the bottom of the bottle. The codes that indicate a BPA-free bottle are 1, 2, 4, or 5:

Code 1 (PET or PETE): Polyethylene terephthalate, commonly used for single-use beverage bottles.

Code 2 (HDPE): High-density polyethylene, often used for water jugs and bottle crates.

Code 4 (LDPE): Low-density polyethylene, used for squeezable bottles and some plastic bags.

Code 5 (PP): Polypropylene, used for containers that require heat resistance.

Avoid bottles with codes 3 (PVC), 6 (PS), and 7, as these may contain BPA or other harmful chemicals.
