Bud Light's popularity continues to decline more than a year after a boycott disrupted the US beer industry.
A backlash that began last April - after the beer giant used a transgender influencer in an advert - has snowballed, new sales figures show.
Back then, Bud Light was the undisputed top-selling beer in American stores by a margin. It had held the place for decades.
It fell below Modelo Especial last summer - and now it has slipped to No3 behind Michelob Ultra. Coors Light could overtake Bud Light by the end of the year if the fall in sales - shown in the graph below - continues.
Even a surprise endorsement from Donald Trump in February - and ads featuring NFL legend Peyton Manning and rapper Post Malone - have not slowed the sales decline.
Bud Light’s market share has slipped so far that, in the four weeks ending July 6, its sales made up just 6.5 percent of beer sold in stores in dollar terms.
That is a sharp fall on more than ten percent before the boycott.
Meanwhile, Modelo accounted for 9.7 percent of sales and Michelob 7.3 percent over the four weeks , according to NielsenIQ data analyzed by consulting firm Bump Williams.
The four-week stretch between Memorial Day and July Fourth weekend is essential for brewers' sale.
Modelo, a Mexican import sold by Constellation Brands, has outpaced Bud Light in dollar sales since last year. It has now also surpassed Bud Light in sales volume.

PBR? Fuk that Sh—!! Yeungling!!!
Exactly.
Drink anything from Stone or Russian River.. Good stuff.
Well, Ms. Heinerscheid’s goal was to change the Bud Light market demographics. Mission accomplished!
“Anheuser-Busch is a conservative company, and always has been.”
They were the type of conservatives who “conserved” leftist victories.
Zero tolerance is the only way to stop this garbage.
Let's be very clear here. Transheuser Butch / InBev didn't just allow this, they PROMOTED it.
??????
Alissa Heinerscheid did all of their marketing campaigns? Their television commercials attacking white men after the fallout from promoting their transvestite are a whole other level of anti-conservatism. Here's just a sample of their anti-conservative campaigns:
Comes in bottles so no metallic taste. And it tastes GREAT!
I highly recommend it!
UnderDog Beer?
Never heard of it.
Quick, where can I get some?
IPA? 8.0 Alky? 25 oz cans?

The beer aisle population at Walmart supports this.
Indeed. it was a completely successful rebranding. They wanted to be known as 'tranny-fluid', and now they are.
LoL!
Mostly yeah.
There is a local brewery though that does really good business at the bar that is a part of their brewery. If they don't make it, they don't sell it. It is packed every time I go.
If only 20% of American beer drinkers like actually good beer that’s still many millions of them. My local brew pubs are always busy. The local swill drinkers seem to like Icehouse. (Shudder).
You are correct sir, I was referencing conservatism of Anheuser-Busch the family-owned business, rather than the subsequent INBEV destruction.
Dittoes. Having one now!
“yuengling”
“Not available here in the West”
Yep, I have only had about a six pack in total during trips to the Indy 500 time trials and a NAPS NewPort RI Graduation about 12 years back. Very good beer for those wanting to throw back 3 or 4 in a couple hours. I prefer craft beer 2 or 3 a week. Wine most of the time.
Whatever happened to Hamms, or Rainier or Olympia? Lums restaurant chain used to cook their hotdogs in Ballentine, my uncle’s drank Schlitz , and my dad drank Fallstaff or Old Milwaukee, my Piney cousins all drank Stroths.
Because of my “heritage” around these various budget brews growing up... I came to the conclusion that beer is way overrated, especially bottled beer. Kegs or cans, no skunking. Blindfold tests tend to agree.
Singha was atrocious and Sam Magoo was ferocious.
A strong homemade Korean “ongee” beer is a beautiful thing, but it’s an acquired taste. Saki is also palatable.
