Gee, maybe it was named “Death Valley” for a reason.

If it ain’t recorded, it ain’t a record. So if it was 137 degrees in 1821, it doesn’t matter.

Darwin award winner of the week.
Things you shouldn’t do when it’s over 110 degrees out... Ride a motorcycle through Death Valley. BTW - They didn’t call it death valley for nothing.

Why in the world would they take the route through Death Valley, especially in the daytime hours?

“””Tracy Housley, a native of Manchester, England, said she decided to drive from her hotel in Las Vegas to Death Valley after hearing on the radio that temperatures could approach record levels.
“We just thought, let’s be there for that,” Housley said Sunday. “Let’s go for the experience.””””
Further into this story is the woman from England where the temps are low and she wants to experience temps that are double her normal.
Fixing stupid is still an impossible task.

They do have covered water barrels out there at intervals along the roads - they’re more typically used for overheating cars but if you’re biking in 100+ degree weather you’d better make use of them.

You’re not supposed to ride motorcycles under water either.

My ZX11 would be a fantastic ride in the CA spring or fall.
Summer not so much.
Death Valley, no way.

2 key words in story ,Death Valley
To: Red Badger
I knew a man who traveled through Death Valley in the 1920s when there was only a dirt road going through it and there were graves on the side of the road.
To: Red Badger
"Death Valley" should have been the first clue not to go.
Then add in forecasted record high temps, in the hottest place on earth.
Why would anyone want to do this?
Maybe at night, but during the day under these conditions? Insane.

Iowa lawmakers passed a new legislation that means children can get a driver’s license at the age of 14 and a half.
