An important #FathersDay message from me… WEAR A HELMET ! This week I had a bad accident while riding my bike in CT. I'm doing ok and I’m thankful for all the doctors, nurses and staff at @LMHospital who looked after me but most thankful for my helmet that saved my life. Be Safe

A bike helmet saved my life.
After the car hit me, I flew 20 feet through the air and landed on the top of my head. Cracked helmet, road rash, and a slight concussion, but I walked away.
From a quick look at the video, it looks like his hair provided most of the impact absorption.
Wow
Victor Davis Hanson noted that when his carbon fiber front fork collapsed on him, his helmet did not protect him from a 100% face plant into the road.
Tiny fractures in the CF are often undetectable. Hoping mine and my son’s have no cracks......
My brother was in a bike race when he went down. His helmet was destroyed. It saved his skull.
Now he lives in a downstairs room at home because he cannot be trusted to negotiate the stairs anymore. Much less work the farm.
I gave up road biking a couple of years ago. It wasn’t worth the risk to me. I bought a nice treadmill and now use that instead. I love it. The climate’s always perfect and I can get dressed, have a great workout and have a shower afterwards all in an hour or so.
Did you stick around for the bruise?
Is the tremble in his left hand normal for him?
There was a bike race in my CT town yesterday. I wonder if he was riding in it? I was trying to drive to work while these bikers acted like they owned the road. I’m always careful of people walking or biking but the people riding bikes should be careful too. I was going around a sharp corner and some lady on her bike was in the middle of the road in front of me. If I went into the other lane I would have hit another car head on. Instead I had to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting her. I was so mad that I thought about cutting her off when I drove by her. I didn’t do it but I did call her a few things.
At least it was his decision. I don't think wearing a helmet should be a law and it should be the bicycle or motorcycle rider's choice, but at the same time I think not wearing a helmet (while riding a motorcycle) is damn foolish.
In Maine, motorcycle riders don’t need helmets, unless th3yve changed the laws. Sure it’s not wise, but as the left are so fond of saying “my body my choice”- yet you see democrat states who believe that all demanding that bikers wear helmets.
When I lived in Colorado, I was surprised how many of the motorcycle riders chose to ride without helmet. Probably about 80 percent.
Stockton Rush was unavailable for comment.
If it affected just the individual, I'd agree. But it seldom does.
Now his wife has to care for him and do all the farm chores. His kids and grandkids have no quality time with him now, as he just sits in his room smoking and looking out the window.
Local bike shop has a collection of cracked helmets, no serious injuries from any. If that doesn’t make a believer out of someone, they deserve what they may get.
if a person is unconscious as a result of injuries sustained during a traffic collision, medical treatment may be provided to that person, despite the unconscious person being unable to expressly grant consent for that treatment.Could that be extended to organ donation in the event of their demise?
Does he live in CT?
LMHospital? Lawrence and Memorial Hospital?
