Data released Wednesday by Weedmaps revealed that New York consumers spent more on their individual cannabis purchases than in other markets. The average order value for New Yorkers on orders placed through the platform outstripped than the national average by more than 50% during the first quarter of 2024 ($123.16 in New York vs. $80.78 nationally).

In addition, New York has a 6% higher basket size through Weedmaps vs. the national average in the same period (2.35 items vs. 2.22 national).

Another difference between New Yorkers and national cannabis shoppers: New Yorkers prefer in-store shopping versus delivery.

An observer can be pleased the others are making NYC number one without being a pothead.

But Michael Savage said several times the data on vicious outbursts by marijuana users affecting a minority of them is overlooked. Some brains are adversely affected causing violence. Others are not, leading to “uninterested in finding fulltime employment” and other characteristics.

“Daily marijuana user” is actually a category. Graham Nash of Crosby, Stills and Nash described himself as one in his autobiography “Wild Tales.” Millions of others are now on that list.

One view from a 2019 National Library of Medicine article:
Marijuana Is More Dangerous Than You Think
Alex Berenson

Note:
Inclusion in an NLM database does not imply endorsement of, or agreement with, the contents by NLM or the National Institutes of Health.

The first four states to legalize marijuana for recreational use were Colorado and Washington in 2014 and Alaska and Oregon in 2015. Combined, those four states had about 450 murders and 30,300 aggravated assaults in 2013. In 2017, they had almost 620 murders and 38,000 aggravated assaults—an increase far greater than the national average.

Knowing exactly how much of that increase is related to cannabis is impossible without researching every crime. But for centuries, people all over the world have understood that cannabis causes mental illness and violence—just as they’ve known that opiates cause addiction and overdose. Hard data on the relationship between marijuana and madness dates back 150 years, to British asylum registers in India.

Is this per capita? If so I refuse to believe it. Kalifornia...Colorado...Oregon are the winners.

The biggest consumers of weed are young black men. The biggest perpetrators of crime in the country are young black men. Coinkadink?

Yes, the smell is overwhelming in mid-town. I find the retail side of the weed trade a bit odd. There are medical despensaries serving only those with a marijuana prescription. Then, there are a larger number of licensed recreational dispensaries. Beside that, every mom and pop bodega and many souvanier/trinket store fronts have a marijuana busy counters in the back, and you might be walking down the street when a van door opens beside you and you hear”Roll-ups? You want roll-ups? No wonder the smell is everywhere.

Thankfully tens of millions of whites don’t smoke weed. Otherwise we’d be tripping over all the bodies. You bet.

Hey, you’d smoke dope, too, if you had to live there. I lived there for 50+ years, and I would insist on being high if you made me go back!

Must be NYers way of escaping the reality of having the highest taxes and fees to deal with.

A NYer can avoid the urine deposits, but the pot is everywhere. One day during Christmas season I left the Old Town Bar on 18th and Bway and walked up to Bryant Park. There was not one block where the smell of pot was absent.

Lived there for 20 of the best years of my life (so far). Only “weed” I consumed was the overflow of some fool vaping nearby.

People are affected differently by weed.
Eventually the research reveal more than is known now
While weed generally “relaxes” many users..some use have psychotic and or aggressive episodes from smoking weed.

Folks,

Lets get down to basics. behaviors are complex, but one of the main reasons for drugs, alcohol, porn, perversion, etc is to kill the pain of living. It is a distraction from life.

History and personal experience shows us this again and again.

EVERYONE of us is unique in our genetics, experiences, nutrition, books read, not read, etc. so our reaction to things like mj are different.

Personally I was glad there were liquor restrictions as I grew up. Dad would have lost the farm. We give up some rights for the benefits of others has been the long tradition. Now days, everything is about MY RIGHTS, RIGHT NOW.

The amazing thing is not that civilization is so screwed up, the amazing thing is it works at all. By God’s grace is my explanation.
