A Kentucky family’s $15,000 Carnival Cruise vacation they had been planning for a year was canceled just two days before the ship was set to sail after they accidentally shared their booking number online in a case of identity theft.
Tiffany Banks was devastated to learn that her trip aboard the Carnival Celebration ship with her husband and their four kids was canceled without her knowledge the day before the family was going to fly to Florida to leave on the boat.
Banks said in a series of TikTok videos that she had no idea their vacation, for which they had already paid in full, was trashed until she got an email about off-ship excursion cancellations and called to investigate.
A Carnival customer service representative told her that she had canceled her $12,000 reservation for the ship’s largest room — the Excel Presidential Suite — through the online system.
The mom and nurse practitioner said she went into “a full-blown panic” and she and her four kids were all in tears.
“We have nearly $15,000 tied up in for this vacation including excursions. The room itself was I think $12,000 or $13,000, and then we’ve got a few grand tied up in excursions, and actually with almost $2,000 for flights,” she said in a May 12 TikTok video.
Banks said she never canceled the trip and wondered if it was a system glitch.
Carnival said the room they had booked was now reserved by another customer and offered the family two interior rooms — the cheapest on the ship — instead, but the mom did not feel it was an adequate replacement.
Carnival also refused to offer a full refund as its cancellation policy states that no money will be returned within 15 days of the cruise date.

It’s called an obstructed cabin. Those cabins are identified as such on the website. Lot’s of folks like them because they’re the cheapest balconies. You can book a Guaranteed Balcony Cabin which allows the cruise line to pick your cabin. Also cheap cabins. just becareful of where you book.
I expect the person who booked it is the one who cancelled her reservation.
The guilty party booked it.

Wow, that WOULD suck. I think I’d had to have requested a cabin change.
I think most cruise line websites offer virtual views of ships and cabins. Also a layout of decks and obstructions.
We never select a cabin without spending some time doing a little research to make sure it’s what we want.

We book early with Costco. Rebook if price comes down.
They offered her a credit toward another cruise and she turned it down.
They should be able to track the IP address of the person who cancelled it.

He didn’t pay for a cabin with an unobstructed view. He paid a lower rate.
I’m sure they could.
It’s likely a matter of them wanting to.
After dropping all that cake she failed to spend just a few hundred more that more than likely would have saved her a whole lot of headaches.

She should have taken the offer, if it was a full credit comparable to the cancelled cruise reservation.

If your looking for peace and quiet stay the heck away from Carnival. Lol!
There seems to be a lot of trolling for personal information on Facebook. When a Facebook poster asked "where did you go on your first airplane ride?" I answered, "up into the sky." When asked the name of my first grade teacher, I answered, "Miss Phisher."
My wife booked it, so I’ll blame Mrs. POF. It was our first cruise and we were wet behind the ears when it came to things like that. She probably picked the cheapest balcony cabin.
The only consolation is that the people one deck down had a completely obstructed view.
No way will the credit card company help her. Whoever it was that got the number from her negligence and cancelled did so days before the cruise. That’s standard for all cruises to not refund 15 days prior to cruise. Now maybe she had insurance on the cruise and could go through the ship’s insurance company.
If someone had not canceled her cruise, they surely would have burgled her home on the dates she said she would be away.
