If someone says, “Trust the science!” these days, it’s usually an effort to short-circuit debate over weighty policy issues.
“Trust the science” has been deployed in the past five years to prevent debate over COVID school closures and mask mandates, over electric-car subsidies, and over sex changes for boys and girls.
For my entire time in Washington, though, “trust the science” has been used to oppose a missile defense system for the United States. For my first 20 years as a journalist, I was told that a missile defense system simply cannot work and that anyone who disagreed was a fool. All the experts agreed, and science proved that you can’t “shoot down a bullet with a bullet.”

Ronald Reagan Starwars
“Misinformation” is the left’s word for anything that contradicts left-wing nostrums for whatever ails the country.
That trite retort has been the beginning and end of all their responses...
Notice the idiot who wrote this article fails to mention that the only ballistic missile defense tests that worked were the ones where the mock missile had a homing tracker built into it, in other words ABM can only work if you literally cheat!
Back in the 1980s the liberal creeps mocked Ronald Reagan. Reagan knew back then that American ingenuity would eventually be able to defend against missiles and ICBMs. The libs said that “hitting a bullet with another bullet” was a pipe dream. They dubbed it Star Wars, unobtainable.
Well, American ingenuity combined with Israeli ingenuity, just intercepted at least 300 missiles and drones from Iran. None of them breached Israeli airspace. Even Jordan helped Israel.
Israel calls the different anti-missle systems Iron Dome (Patriot) , David’s Sling, and Arrow.
Ronald Reagan is smiling down on us.
1. Breaking from the Ballistic Missile Treaty.
2. Cost
It always made sense in that it was technically possible already many years ago (Sprint, Nike Hercules, Hawk TBM), it's a true defensive measure, and there has been a growing threat for a long-long time. Already in 1991 with the older version of the Patriot the real world practical application of this was put to test in Desert Shield / Storm when shooting down SCUD missiles.
The people that claimed they had some engineering / science argument against it, made no sense.
If anything, it was reckless and irresponsible (sorry for the cliche, but true in this case) not to pour needed resources into missile defense and slow roll it as we did for many years.
It’s like the old adage given to thatcher by ira; you have to be lucky every time, I only have to get lucky once. It was a victory for iran if only one missile got through. You will notice Israel hasn’t fired back.
A policy that Biden/0bama is following by cutting missile defense by $400 billion.
The US Navy just used SM3 exo atmospheric kill vehicles to hit Iranian ballistic missiles in space in their first ever combat use they hit all the targets they were aimed at. For 12 million per missile we blew a couple hundred million shooting down drones and missiles for Israel. Ronald Reagan must be smiling somewhere with the I told you so grin of a champion.
