Few things are more annoying than exploding deer.
It was terrible! Deer guts everywhere!
Must be climate change.
You’ve given them your coffee?
Is the backstrap still good?
It’s the whales you really have to worry about.
Visiting a relative in a rural area of Maryland and looking out the kitchen window (as I type) to 7 or 8 grazing in the backyard. Driving the other night and each time the headlights swung across an open field, I would see another 15 or 20. It’s not the first time I have been here but I don’t recall ever seeing as many.
The Covid hoax kept many from hunting and the population increased exponentially. That and due to economic conditions and many having to work two or more jobs there’s not a lot of time to hunt. Heck I haven’t been down to my area down south for several months. This weekend is going to be a lot of work cutting back roads to the stands.
Omnivore-Dan! Get to work on the carnivore side!
Body shops are celebrating the news.
Another deer caused holly-caust
Mrs L has an amazing recipe for venison tenderloins.

It’s been a few years since I last saw an exploding deer. 1974, September in Kansas on I-70...........................
Eat them!
Just moved from Hunterdon last year after 39 years there. During that time I hit 8 deer with escalating costs to repair and my wife hit two. seemed like there were plenty of hunters but also plenty of deer lovers and local restrictions on hunting. We let bow hunters hunt our property but neighbors objected and ran them off.
On the other hand the coyote population is growing and they take an increasing share. These aren’t scrawny animals either weighing 65 pounds. Of course they love small cats and dogs too.
Hunterdon is a beautiful place but also perfect deer territory. Bears love it too.
In my yard, the question of deer elimination boils down to either shooting or poisoning them.
The problem with shooting is having to be at the right place at exactly the right time.
That leaves poisoning. What poison to use? Poisons are it turns out hard to come by.
Deterrence is futile. Extermination is the only remedy
TrendsNJ only tracks 'harvests' and has no effective measure of deer populations, while simultaneously enacting policies which are 'anti-hunter'.
Figure 1 below shows the deer population estimates for 1984-2018.3 Although the trend appears to be decreasing before 2017, there are at least two factors which make it difficult to accurately determine statewide populations. First, changes in hunting regulations over the years introduce variability into the population estimates since the basic data is derived from hunter-harvested deer whose hunting behavior is affected by the regulations. Second, estimates for populations in non hunted areas are not available, and this lack of information makes the population estimates conservative.4
Liberals at work. Who's surprised?
You can find lists online of what to plant and what not to plant if you have deer in the area.
Deer used to come by every night in the snow and eat my mom’s yew bushes.
Don’t try that yourself. Yews are highly toxic for humans.
I would invite you to bowhunt my backyard, if my town would let me.
Two years ago, there was a midge-borne disease killing deer, dead deer everywhere.
Dead animal removal companies were charging $800 to remove a carcass. There are cheaper methods.
