Owner or Steward?

Bible in a Year :

Every animal of the forest is mine.

Psalm 50:10

“Am I an owner or a steward?” The CEO of a multibillion-dollar company asked himself that question as he weighed what was best for his family. Concerned about the temptations that can come with vast wealth, he didn’t want to burden his heirs with that challenge. So he gave up ownership of his company and placed 100 percent of the voting stock in a trust. Recognizing that everything he owns belongs to God helped him make the decision to allow his family to earn a living in exchange for work while also using future profits to fund Christian ministry.

In Psalm 50:10, God tells His people, “Every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills.” As the Creator of all things, God owes us nothing and needs nothing from us. “I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens,” He says (v. 9). He generously provides everything that we have and use as well as the strength and the ability to earn a living. Because He does, as the psalm shows us, He’s worthy of our heartfelt worship.

God owns everything. But because of His goodness, He even chose to give Himself, entering into a relationship with any who turn to Him. Jesus “did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45). When we value the Giver over the gifts and serve Him with them, we're blessed to delight in Him forever. .

Reflect & Pray

What has God given you that you’re grateful for? How can you serve Him with it?

You made everything, faithful Creator. Please help me to live my life as a gift from You today.

Gain a biblical perspective of money.

The dogs, Bosko & Scrappy went home at 6:00 last night. As they were leaving Bosko stood on his hind legs reaching up to give me some love as if to thank me for taking care of them.

I did see your picture of the beautiful blue eyed pup. I have never seen one like that. He must be a long haired. I just read up on Blue eyed Dachshunds and this is what I found.

" Light-colored dachshunds usually have green, light brown or amber eyes, or eye of two different colors such as one blue and one brown eye. Blue eyes are possible but have been labeled “undesirable” by kennel associations. A blue-eyed dachshund is sometimes misidentified as a “double-dapple.”

Here is what my daughters dogs look like. Can you imagine having two of these long weiners insisting on sitting on your lap? With them there is no choice as they just jump right up and then squeeze in wherever they can.

“What has God given you that you’re grateful for?

I am grateful that he gave me Jesus Christ that through the belief in him I may have everlasting life.

Secondly I am grateful for the family he gave me.

“Vanilla bean paste”

You reminded me, I bought some at Trader Joe’s yesterday. I wanted to open and sniff it and I forgot.

If you don’t mind, post or send a link to the bean to buy. Want to make sure I get good ones and I’m sure you have investigated them.

Gorgeous! I can’t believe a lion and leopard get along, and are even friendly. (I’m going to tell Sable and Cadbury about this, LOL)

Actually the spotted one is a leopard, no stripes like a tiger.

TY AB!

I’m glad you joined us!

It’s a perfect thread reading day here, lots of rain going on outside. I did run to Walmart for a bit, but I couldn’t pick up my prescription because my coupon didn’t work. That’s annoying. I’ll have to try again later.

“If you lower your carbs you won’t crowd out the Proteins and fats and you will enable the nutrition to float into the cells and not hang out in the blood stream, yo! jus sayn”

That’s great it works that way. I still can’t wrap my head around it, it seems to go against everything that has been said medically. But then we know what that has led to, and if the medicos are wrong about one thing they could be wrong about another. All they want to do is sell more medicine for cholesterol etc.

“Am I an owner or a steward?”

I love that. Whenever I have owned any acreage, when walking around it I always think of myself as a steward, taking care of God’s land and his animals. There’s no way I can own something as magnificent as a 150’ tall Jeffrey Pine in the Sierras. I don’t even know how to take care of it, God provides the nutrients it needs. But I do go and appreciate them and thank Him for getting to enjoy his creations.

How wonderful that somebody had the same idea about a company, I never would have thought of that.

TY for your post, Mayor.

I was browsing vanilla beans and have a couple questions:

Of course it’s cheaper per being the more I buy. Can they be stored well long-term with an oxygen absorber?

I can’t remember my second question now! LOL
