I have felt three quakes in my life (nothing like you California FReepers). They can be unnerving since I am not used to them.

Last week it was 100 million people in danger of snowstorm.
Like 100 million are going to expose themselves to the bitter cold.

They can be unnerving since I am not used to them. Yep, that whole sneaking up on you thing they do is just rude. I’ve felt earthquakes in California and Italy. Do not like.
Tornadoes and hurricanes suck too, but at least we know when they’re coming.

Oh nos! You're in an earthquake zone even if you've lived there all your life and never felt one. Only more government can save you! Trust the science!
It's no longer about global warming. It's now about global shaking.

I was in the 89 Loma Prieta quake. I was at Stanford Labs in a research building for a joint meeting when it hit. Many ran for under tables and many for under door jambs. I got pushed out into a hallway where I watched as books and stuff from offices got shaken out into the hallway. It stopped for a few seconds and I high tailed it down two floors to the outside. I saw some massive cracks in the poured concrete walls on the way down....

Felt two in California. Not big ones but enough some glasses fell off shelves etc. One in Ohio. Very minor — had to go online to verify it was real and not just a semi driving by too close.

In half a billion years from now there will be no American continent. Earth is not static. But good news is, such climactic changes occur over millions of years. Humans have been around only for 0.002% of earth’s life. And humans will be extinct in another 0.002% of Earth’s life time. Ther Sun will morph into a red giant in 5 billion more years, expanding its size and all nearby planets such as Mercury, Venus, Earth and even Mars will be gobbled by the red giant Sun.

My first earthquake experience was Saturday November 9, 1968 in the suburbs west of St. Louis. It was a 5.4 centered in Illinois. I was a high school senior and working in the garage on some project when Dad came running out of the house yelling "Earthquake! Get out!" We dashed out of the garage and watched things shake for a while.
I enjoyed it so much I moved to California five years later.

I had one go off about a mile from my house... Small 1.5 or 2... It was exactly like a sonic boom. Scariest thing was it was within 1/4 mile of a huge dam holding back a million acre feet of water.

One of the nice things about moving from California is putting something on a shelf that you value, catching yourself, and then remembering that since you moved you can put it right there, and even closer to the edge if you want.
