BUFFALO, N.Y. -- With at least a foot of snow expected in Orchard Park, the Buffalo Bills are looking for assistance in shoveling Highmark Stadium ahead of their wild-card round game vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers from anyone who can safely reach the stadium.
When there is heavy snow before games, the team often reaches out to the community for help in getting the stadium ready for a game, considering the snow is able to impact a significant amount of the open-air stadium. The team is offering a rate of $20 an hour, and "complimentary food and breaks will be provided throughout the shifts in a comfortable warm area."
There are multiple shifts available for snow shovelers to help get Highmark Stadium ready for our Super Wild Card game! ❄️

— Buffalo Bills (@BuffaloBills) January 13, 2024 The time and date of the game were moved from Sunday at 1 p.m. EST to Monday at 4:30 p.m. EST due to the snowstorm in the region, with public safety the priority and resources used in games also needed in other places.
Shoveling shifts were also rescheduled from beginning Saturday night to Sunday morning. Shovelers can arrive at 8 a.m., noon and 4 p.m. on Sunday. Shoveling will continue into Monday if needed. A travel ban will go into place in the region from 9 p.m. on Saturday until at least 6 a.m. on Sunday.
Anyone under the age of 18 interested in helping must have working papers, and everyone must have proper photo identification. The team encourages anyone interested in participating to dress warmly and to bring a shovel if possible. Shovels will be provided for people who don't have one.

— Buffalo Bills (@BuffaloBills) January 13, 2024 A winter storm warning is in effect for Buffalo and surrounding areas, including Orchard Park, until 7 a.m. Monday. More than a foot of snow -- and as much as three feet -- is expected in the Buffalo area, according to AccuWeather, with winds potentially as strong as 65 mph. Snowfall at rates of two to three inches per hour is expected to begin around 6 p.m. Saturday, creating challenges to clear the roads, part of the reason the game was pushed back.
They probably will use more than one Bobcat, but those are limited in reach.
Would result in a lot less injuries if the two team owners simply agreed to toss a coin to determine the winner!!! But then again, there must be another motive for continuing the madness?
Kinda tough to use one in the stands. IIRC thats where the majority of the help is required.
Caller on an “urban” talk show complaining about how nobody was shoveling/plowing the way from the post office to her house so she could get her food stamps delivered.
Granted, this was a while ago, but I can’t imagine things have improved.
I haven’t seen ‘food stamps’ in decade or more. Everything is EBT now...............
I was curious what happened to this “climate change” fraudster.
Was he fired and ridiculed for his insanely wrong predictions?
Nope.
The scammers just keep on scamming.....
Why do they scam? Because as Willie Sutton explained when asked why he robs banks—”because that is where the money is”.
With snow this deep, though, it could be 2-0, the lowest possible score in a football game with any score at all. Never seen one of those!
Why can’t prisoners help?
Looks like leaf blowers and weed burners needed.
LOL - that is so cute. 🐕
They probably will bring in bobcats for field. Help is needed to shovel seats.
I think $20/hr has been the pay for some time. They get it done...also get bragging rights about clearing the stadium.
Oh, yes, they will truck the snow to the Lake Erie harbor.
Left there in 2010..
Different states have different laws...............
I think this was back in the late 70s. That call stuck in my mind.
That and the guy a few lockers down showing off his wallet full of food stamps because he was collecting from 5 baby mamas and over a dozen kids.
Again, this was back then, and I doubt things have improved since then
There is snow in a lot of places off the floor/field. All of the open spaces will also have a foot of snow.
I would bring a back pack leaf blower for the seats.
Yes- i remember that game!!
I was actually in Shea Stadium watching the Jets beat up on the Tampa Bay Bucs in 8 inches of snow and everybody was waiting for a score of that game because it was important- this was 1982 and no cell phones/ESPN/etc.
All of a sudden the score pops up on the big screen at Shea:
Dolphins: 0
Patriots: 3
The few of us remaining in Shea went wild. It was only when i got back to my apartment, i was a student at St John’s, did i find out the guy who plowed the area for the FG kicker was a parolee on work release!!!
It’s called SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), now and it’s administered thru a Credit card-like EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) Card.
They got rid of the paper food stamps because they were being sold on the street for drug/cig/beer money at less than 50 cents on the dollar.
But the EBT card didn’t end that practice, they just found a new way to do it.
I was approached in WalMart by a black woman who wanted to pay for my groceries with her EBT Card and I was to give her my cash. Of course I said no and she went to look for another sucker................
I would bring a back pack flame thrower for the seats...................
Recently I was behind an EBT customer at the supermarket checkout. Swiped her card and was on her way, no questions asked. When it was my turn, cashier ran my $50 bill under the ultraviolet to see if it was real.
Here they use a special marker pen...........
IOW, they had more faith in the EBT card than US cash.
