Sunday's wild-card game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills is being postponed until Monday at 4:30 pm ET, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced Saturday.
A full travel ban is being issued in Erie County beginning at 9 pm on Saturday, Hochul added. The area expects to see 2-3 inches of snow per hour during the height of this weekend's winter storm.
New York's governor said the storm will be at its fiercest in south Buffalo on Sunday afternoon, per CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones. The wild-card matchup was slated to kick off at 1:00 pm ET.

Not likely. People in NFL circles will tell you it's no secret the league is laying the groundwork for a combined regular season and playoff schedule that will eventually put the Super Bowl on the Sunday of President's Day weekend every year.
Good post. If I lived in Buffalo I’d be all over the governor’s ass if the streets in my neighborhood weren’t plowed because they had to clear snow for thousands of cars at a stupid football game.
But let's not forget that one fan died in the stands due to exposure to the cold.
That would be a PR nightmare today.
More of the devastating impact from climate change.
If only we would ban fossil fuels in America, this kind of thing would never happen.
Ah, football, I remember that, haven’t seen it in years. The name “Referee-Ball” would be more fitting at this point. They get more airtime than the players.
There were some videos of shoveling out the stadium...when...I don’t know...but I believe they were paid like $30/hr.
Looking out my window now I’m watching the trees wondering when the power will fail. The forecast for tomorrow is blizzard like and with 80,000 people heading to and from the game will be a disaster. 2-3’ per hour is nothing to mess with especially with wind. Roads will become parking lots.
pussies!
I think we can say that it’s a prudent decision based on the severe weather forecast. And we can also say that Kathy Hochul is grandstanding about this.
It’s tough from a competitive standpoint, in that, the winner of this game on Monday has that much less time to prepare for the next playoff game.
Global warming! Global warming! Global warming!!!
Agree with you about her and the state of NY government, which is one of the main reasons we left the state. And that was a few years ago when cuomo was governor.
NEVER thought I’d see the day I’d think the sate was better off under him.
Having dealt with lake effect snow my 30 years in WNY then 30 more in CNY, snowfall rates that high with winds that strong are something that cannot be messed with. You don’t come out ahead.
There’s also the issue of hypothermia and the danger posed to law enforcement and EMTs and other first responders trying to deal with calls in weather like that. And the patient load can overwhelm the hospitals.
In weather like that, for the few hours it lasts, it’s best to stay home, make a good pot of soup, and sit down with a good movie or book and wait it out. It doesn’t last forever and when it’s done, you dig out and life goes on has normal.
However, they are set to get several inches of snow every day for over a full week.

The 10 day forecast has a great graph that show it all at one.
How do you clear a parking lot of thousands of cars that are all drifted in and what do the people do while they are waiting to be dug out?
Move it to Detroit so the steelers can have more of a home field advantage.
Reading these comments, I had no idea so many freepers have no idea about weather.
A. This about snowfall not temperature.
B. Buffalo gets substantial lake effect snow.
C. December 2022 - “3 more blizzard-related deaths confirmed; total dead in WNY now stands at 47 “ - wgrz.com
D. People who don’t take western New Yorks winter weather seriously will end up dead. People will die because emergency vehicles can’t get to them.
E. I agree postpone the game.
Why can’t they all just get on an Electric Bus?
They should move the KC game to 1 PM tommorrow.
I think we can say that it’s a prudent decision based on the severe weather forecast. And we can also say that Kathy Hochul is grandstanding about this.
It also allows the keyboard tough guys here - who won’t be attending the game regardless of where/when it is - to grandstand about how tough they think they are.
Actually football was meant to be played in the fall, not the winter
