US Olympian and two-time All-American swimmer Richard Thornton collapsed and died on a California beach Thursday, according to his family.
He was 65.
The avid surfer was meeting with a friend at The Hook, a popular spot to catch waves in Santa Cruz, his brother, Marc Thornton, told ABC 7.
“He was following his buddy down the steps,” Marc Thornton added.
“His buddy jumped in the water, looked up for Richard, and Richard was just standing there at peace, not clutching his heart or anything, and he just kind of collapsed into the water.”
Thornton’s daughter, Kirra, blasted reports that the swimmer died in a surfing accident and said the cause of death was Thornton had been battling Multiple Myeloma, his family told the outlet.
Marc Thornton shared that his brother died “doing what he loved” in a Facebook post.
“He could be in a hospital for six months with an oxygen tube, losing weight and all that,” Marc told the outlet. “What a way to go for someone who loved the beach and being in the water.”
Thornton, then 21, qualified and was selected as a member of the US men’s Olympic swimming team in 1980.

The definition of a fanatic is someone who won’t change his mind and can’t change the subject. Meanwhile, I seem to recall the world before 2020 and people, believe it or not, died of a variety of causes even then.

The people who “died of COVID” were actually dying of “other things” (often medical malpractice). It’s fair to play the same game back at them — they said all deaths are COVID? We say all deaths are vaxx.

If one makes the assumption that maximizing the fear of COVID was part of some plan the dots all fall into place for what is otherwise bizarre and unexplainable.
The C19 vaxxx has been accelerating cancer in many people. Re-awakening cancers that were in remission. This is documented all over the internet. Especially in certain Twitter accounts that I follow.
This vaxxx weakens your immune system, so that you are more vulnerable to cancer, lupus and so on. And the more vaxxx and boosters you get. The worse this weakening gets.
The American public knows this. Mostly by word of mouth and by family and friends who are vaxxx injured. This is why hardly anyone is falling for the Pharma and Federale vaxxx propaganda anymore. The C19 vaxxxx/boosters are being shunned.
Probably boycotting annual BS flu injections too. I never got one. And no C19 vaxxx either.
On so many topics — COVID, vaccines, election fraud, activist judges, etc. — our side insists on playing nice, following the rules, adhering to standards. And where does that get us? We’re up against an opponent that will use every dirty trick in the book. They will beg, borrow and steal to get their way. And we sit back and lose because we don’t want to “up our game”.
I say the Left killed millions with their damn vaccine and I think the public should have a serious discussion about it. Plant the seed. Get people wondering. Have people ask questions. I will not shrug things off and say, “Well, 65, could have been a heart attack, you know ...” That’s not my style. I say it was the vaxx and I want the evidence that proves me wrong.
I hope your wife is doing well. Hope her oncologist did not give her a hard time for refusing it. It’s difficult when you respect and trust your oncologist, yet have to stand strong in saying no to the vax. I had AML and treated with a stem fell transplant and refused the vax as well. I respect and have total faith in my dr. And although the team wanted me to get it, he respected my choice. I went thru too much to maintain remission from that awful cancer to take a chance by putting something in my body I was not sure of.
I believe you’re right; he most likely took the experimental jab because of his high profile standing as a former olympic athlete, which probably lead to the onset of his cancer and increased the rate of its growth.
A family friend in her 50s just passed in early November. She was diagnosed with cancer of the brain this past July. When they scanned her brain, it was loaded with tumors, she was at stage 4. It was only last April that she began complaining of headaches. She was up to date on all her boosters.

But they don’t collapse while surfing. Was he close enough to death to have been in a hospital ? Excess deaths are up around the world and it has nothing to do with smoking or obesity as the FDA claims.

Deaths in 2020-2023 for young age groups ( < 45 ) do not exceed the numbers of 2016-2019. There are no Excess Deaths at that age group. That means the virus didn’t kill them, and the vax didn’t kill them. They derived no benefit from the vax, and took no mortality risk from it.
Older age Excess Deaths certainly were substantial 2020-2023 and aligned with the various surges of death count attributed to the virus — making clear there was likely no misattribution since the Excess Death count was All Causes.
As for the “prove me wrong” crowd. That is not how logic works. You make a claim and develop a hypothesis. The burden of effort is then on you to do the research to prove your hypothesis. There is no burden on someone else to prove your hypothesis wrong. What such an effort would do is fail to prove the hypothesis, but that only happens after research is published supporting a claim.
After collapsing? Collapsing was the cause of death?
He was dead before he collapse. He collapsed after dying. What caused his death?
