Here is one for you... They are based in Oregon U.S.A. as a non-profit In the States a non-profit can only spend "I think" 28% on anything "other" than the intended non-profit goal and intentions such as Administration. All but that 28% MUST be proven to be spent on your claimed non-profit CAUSE. In this case LINUX.

So they are already guilty of fraud and tax evasion by U.S. IRS Laws.

https://www.linuxfoundation.org/legal/bylaws

Linux : 2%, Blockchain : 4%, A.I. : 12%

So this is 18% right? Where is the other 82% going? Administration? MS devs to steal Linux?

“”Ask yourself this: If there is a foundation named after a specific thing... what percentage of that foundation’s revenue would you expect to be spent on said thing?”

Fortunately, the Clinton Foundation didn’t have this problem, they spent 95% of their income on the Clintons.

They seem to be really good at including irrelevant, feel-good happy-snaps as background in their annual report. They also seem to be very good at writing obfuscatory word-salad, while hiding what they really spend money on.

Anybody bitching about microsoft or apple or google better not be holding these people up as paragons of virtue.

Not defending Linux Foundation, but a charitable organization must spend more than 51% of their income on the stated goals in the orgs charter filed with California SoS. Almost all charitable orgs use extremely vauguely stated goals in their charters so that expenditures can be used on almost anything other than Administrative expenses. I havent read this org’s charter so I can’t speak to how specific its charitable goals are, but based on those I have seen (and created) I would be amazed if they were specific enough to warrant legal action.

” Where is the other 82% going?”

I assume download support such as for servers and bandwidth.

There might be patent issues that have to be dealt with.

Fonts might have to be licensed.

The Clintons would say it’s none of our business. Apparently, the IRS agrees.

Other than the businesses who provide commercial support for Linux—RedHat, SUSE?, etc, who would even give this organization money? It’s like if there was a Sugar Packet foundation.

Can’t say I’m surprised at all. It seems like every ‘foundation’ gets taken over by leftists, since they can’t actually produce anything of their own.

They forced out Linus Torvalds in 2018, using DEI and “woke” considerations to pressure the major donors. Torvalds’ daughter helped dump her father, because she was “woke”.

How much of a typical Linux distribution counts as the Linux kernel? Are the AI and blockchain spending to improve the non-kernel parts of the operating system? A lot of speech recognition might count under AI. Similarly, secure communications and installation packaging might be under the block chain spending.

Is this a case of saying "only X tiny percentage of a car company's spending is for the core engine features" which counts only the piston, cylinder and spark plug, but doesn't include fuel, suspension, computers, body, seating, steering, HVAC, windows, etc., etc.

Linux is junkware. If you want a good computer OS use MS and Apple products.
