FDNY races to rescue New Yorkers trapped in dark ELEVATORS as the Big Apple and New Jersey is plunged into chaos by sudden mass power outage sparked by 'explosion' at Con Edison plant

The New York City Fire Department was forced to save people from elevators across the city and commuters were trapped on the subway after a fault at a Con Edison plant in Brooklyn caused power outages.

Black smoke was seen coming from the power facility in Brooklyn at 11.55pm on Thursday night and a momentary power outage followed with lights flickering for a few seconds.

It plunged the city into chaos temporarily with multiple reports of people trapped in elevators and stuck on the subway for up to 20 minutes. Some motorists also reported blinking traffic lights.

Alarming footage showed a security guard at a Wegmans store in Brooklyn being rescued from an elevator by firefighters. At Grand Central station all elevators and escalators were out of service due to the power issue.

Con Edison said the issue was due to a fault on a power line at its facility on John Street in Dumbo. Most electricity is back up and running.

Lights were reported flickering in neighborhoods including Lower Manhattan, the Upper East Side, Bed-Stuy, Downtown Brooklyn and Long Island City.

The New York City Fire Department was quickly at the scene and sirens were seen flashing from the Con Edison plant after the failure. New York City Police Department officers were also spotted outside the gates of the facility.

Con Edison told DailyMail.com its crews are investigating the power failure. 'A fault on a high-tension transmission line occurred at a Con Edison substation in Brooklyn at approximately 11:55 pm last night,' a spokesman said.

'Customers may have experienced a dip or surge in power at that time. Crews are investigating and working to make necessary repairs.'

Residents across New York City complained about the brief power cut with most left confused about the outage.

Coming sooner than most people know. And when the lights go out due to the failure of the vaunted “renewables” they won’t come back on for days, perhaps even weeks.

You’re probably right!

What I was referring to by saying “THE” Con Edison was a reference to this case:

https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/the-mad-bomber-strikes-in-new-york

The way they caught the Mad Bomber was that he used the definite article in inapropriate places (THE Con Edison). They detected a Slavic “tone” to the notes because Russian and other Slavic Languanges don’t have the definite article. People who learn English as a second language after speaking Russian or Polish all their lives often use the Definite Article TOO MUCH and inappropriately. This was detected in the Mad Bomber’s letters. They looked specifically for a disgruntled ex-employee of Con Edison who had a Slavic name.

Modern accounts of that detective work often leave out that little tidbit. I have no idea why. Maybe it’s Politically Incorrect?

Anyway, I was wondering if anybody caught it.

I’m getting old, I guess. LOL.

That’s hardly alarming. People get stuck in elevators all the time. “Up to 20 minutes”? Gimme a break.

dark elevators across the city

No wind or solar backup power? There's always cut-the-cable gravity assist.

People wonder what would happen after an EMP attack. Demonrat cliff dwellers would be getting plenty of stair-stepper exercise. One EMP attack might well be the sudden death of the Demonrat Party.

Maybe he was hoping for massive looting which always generates news stories.

Remember 1965 blackout? NO looting.
1977 Blackout? Massive looting.
Same for the 2023 blackout, massive looting.

Now what happened in those years between 1965, 1977 and 2003.......

Meyer. A fault? Sub station or the power plant.... I do not know enough about this to comment. I did see this 12/15/23 Its currently 3:39 UTC, so this would have hit about 10 hours ago (7.02 hours + 3.39 Hrs = 10.41 hrs ago or around 12/14/23 11:55 EST approx?

Maybe this X flare caused an overload in transmission lines or in a power substation which caused a breaker to kick in and shut everything down?

Thoughts?

"(UPDATED) STRONGEST FLARE OF THE CURRENT SOLAR CYCLE: Sunspot 3514 erupted on Dec. 14th (1702 UT), producing a strong X2.8-class solar flare. This is the strongest flare of Solar Cycle 25 (so far) and the most powerful eruption the sun has produced since the great storms of Sept. 2017. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the extreme ultraviolet flash:

Radiation from the flare has caused a deep shortwave radio blackout over the Americas: blackout map. Ham radio operators may have noticed loss of signal at all frequencies below 30 MHz for more than 30 minutes after the flare.""

No, no. Peasants burn charcoal in closed rooms to stay warm. That is why you now have laws mandating carbon monoxide detectors in every damned house/apt.
Actual gas furnaces leaking CO are vanishingly rare. But, dumb butts burning incompletely oxidized “wood” in a closed room and not noticing that family is collapsing is why YOU have an extra expense.

According to Fox, the IEDs were found by Mexican authorities following gunshots at the U.S.-Mexico border. A Tucson supervisory border patrol agent arrested an armed person on the U.S. side.
