With one of the oldest model nameplates still rolling around, the 2025 Chevrolet Suburban SUV doesn't do much to rock that boat. Only mildly refreshed, it remains gigantic and boxy—the longer-wheelbase version of the Tahoe. Upgrades include an improved diesel option and a more modernized interior.
All of the Suburban's six trims benefit from an updated front fascia with slimmer DRLs. Premier and High Country Suburbans get new walk-up and walk-away light animations as standard. Plus, Chevy is introducing two new exterior colors: Lakeshore Blue Metallic and Cypress Gray. Finally, new and optional 24-inch wheels can be fitted to RST and High Country trims.

I despise DRLs (Daytime Running Lights). I wish GM wasn’t so in love with them.
What did you think of the interior?
Suburbans used to be trucks. Idk wth they are now. Nonbinary soccer birthing person vehicle.
Does it have the problematic Ford/GM 10 speed automatic transmission (subject of many lawsuits)?
Nkw that’s a ‘Burb. But the 24” wheel option is stoopid for back country use. Hell, it’s stoopid for the 1/4 mile of potholed private road leading to my place.
You know the designers are scraping the bottom of the barrel when “walk-up and walk-away light animations as standard” are all they got.
I HATE all the designers of every product doing things with lights. If a product has animated and color-changing lights, I walk away. Our house must have 25 little LEDs glowing at us at night and they aren’t “animated” — at least not yet.
Government Motors - No thanks.
If they offered it with the ZF 8HP transmission, I would be interested.
Not sure about the Diesel, though. Does it slip into “limp home mode” when the DEF nozzle gets clogged?
Or, can you turn of the DEF function?
Try the Infiniti QX80. I didn’t even know one of these existed, until I saw one up-front and in person, and couldn’t figure out who the devil the maker was. Awesome vehicle.
Amen, brother.
We don't know the price of the 2025 Chevrolet Suburban lineup just yet, but given the significant refresh, it'll likely cost a few thousand dollars more than the current model. The cheapest Chevy Suburban has an MSRP of $59,200 for the 2024 model year, naturally increasing as you switch engines, add 4WD, and tick the options boxes. At the top-end of the lineup, the High Country with the current diesel engine starts at $79,400; the price range differs around $20k from the cheapest to the most expensive model. They probably didn't factor in FJBflation. Accounting for FJBflation, the real price in 2025 will be over $100k.We expect the 2025 range to start at around $62k with High Country models easily breaching $82k before options.
Rivals to the Suburban include the much pricier Cadillac Escalade, with its starting price already over $80k for 2024, and the GMC Yukon, which has historically been on par with the Chevy in terms of price. Buyers may also shop in the Jeep stable for the Wagoneer, which starts at $62,545.
Ugly front. And what’s with the the foot long electronic display panel? Sheesh, talk about a driving distraction, unless you memorize the buttons on the steering wheel.
Had a top-tier Suburban awhile back. Loved it, but finally sold it because I always felt like I was driving a bus. Also, at 15 MPG, I was filling it up every week to 10 days. Ouch..
I doubt it will pull a boat out of the water from a deep sandy beach and make it 200 yards up the hill to the road like my 1993 Yukon 2 door 4 wheel drive with factory posi front and rear does.
bought new, 200,000 miles and still runs like brand new, no smoke, no leak, no burn oil, everything still works.
Oh great, more monster trucks driven by texting soccer moms.
Damn rental agencies in Hawaii love to talk tourists into renting the damn things, clogging up the highways with their uneeded bulk.
Government Motors? That’s a pass.
“new walk-up and walk-away light animations “
Is this a GM product, or a Datsun?
You can’t plug it in? (/S)
**Suburbans used to be trucks**
That’s why I’m happy to keep rolling in my 90 chevy, ext cab, 8’ box, 4x4. It can haul big stuff outside, 6 adults inside, 5th wheel and bumper hitch. And far easier to work on than the wire bundle/ many sensor laden new stuff.
Two 4 dr (s10)blazers (01 and 04), both 2wd, also relatively easy to work on.
Wife’s 07 highlander has been a good rig.
