It's always nice to see smug people get a slice of humble pie, isn't it?
This is a few years old, but it went viral again over the weekend and it's a great laugh/lesson:
1 minute video at link...........
The smug PhD was SO sure of herself!
"Two, me. I don't know! PhD, cancer biology, scientist, I work in a biotech company, we make Covid-19 testing kits, stuff like that!"
Credentials ≠ intelligence!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She was last!.......................
Actually, she came in dead last.
I just saw your tagline.
I agree.
Social ineptitude and emotional issues are common...................right on both counts!.............
It doesn’t take extraordinary intelligence to succeed in the US from a financial perspective.
**********************************************************
I agree with your statement above as far as it goes. But, in 50 years of business, and with PHD people on my payroll, I learned what this young 30 year old woman learned about her PHD vs the young marine and that is that, at a minimum, a PHD diploma is over-rated....., and that’s an understatement.
That said, the smartest and quickest minded executive I ever had working for me by far died of AIDS in his early thirties. And, his IQ was off the chart! So, with a very high IQ.........how “smart” was he? So, in and of itself, and back in the day, I found that IQ is at best only one consideration when was interviewing someone and it is for sure NOT determinative.
“To see that education majors’ average IQ was 110”
Trust me the IQ of education majors isn’t even that high. It’s been known for quite awhile that education majors always score the lowest among college graduates in terms of intelligence.
That’s because Miskatonic University is fictional. ;)
“ She had a pretty low IQ for a PhD.”
One earns a PhD by telling other PhDs what they want to hear.
When asked what it feels like to be the smartest man on earth, Albert Einstein (PhD) replied,
“I dont know, you’ll have to ask Mr. Tesla”
I will review this.
Truth! He looked like a smart man! He was smart enough not to reply to that drivel she was handing out!
I must have misread that! Even better!
Home of the Fighting Cephalopods!
“My money, and my sanity, went to Miskatonic University.”
lol I can’t believe someone got the reference! Yep! I have my degree in Medieval Mythology (it was in my Graduation Kit, back in ‘88).
Her whole answer smelled of confabulation. If she’s a “cancer biologist”, why would she be working for a company making COVID test kits? Doesn’t make much sense.
Say it ain't so!
“Exactly, how specific was her research? Was it more like cancer studies?”
I’m guessing it’s really one of those “medical communications” degrees or something along those lines. She seems much more like a hospital administrator/marketing type than an actual scientist.
I have the license plate frames on my ‘78 Camero... :-)
Which is why people who are willing to grind often surpass the high IQ crowd in the long run.
You do not get collage credit for it but you are constantly learning.
and you know this how?
