Nov. 1 (UPI) -- An Ontario, Canada, man harvested an 8-foot, 4.79-inch zucchini from his garden that might be the longest on record.

Henry D'Angela said he has applied to Guinness World Records to have his zucchini certified as the longest in the world.

VIDEO AT LINK.........

The current record zucchini of 8 feet, 3.3 inches was grown by John Giovanni Scozzafavain from Niagara Falls, Ontario, in 2014.

"I didn't start out to grow the longest," D'Angela told ThoroldToday. "It just happened to be in a new area I had never grown before. The soil has done really well for it. It's amazing."

He said he is keeping the massive zucchini in his garage until he hears back from Guinness World Records.

"When they open the farmer's market in Thorold next year, I should bring this as a novelty," he said. "So Thorold can be known as having the biggest zucchini in the world."

A favored Oriental zucchini and onion stir fry side dish.

Cut 4” spears of peeled zucchini and chunks of onion.

Stir fry in peanut oil, while adding salt and pepper, soy sauce, dry mustard powder, ginger powder, sugar, and a small amount of crushed red pepper (optional). The sauce it creates is light brown.

When cooked, top with a sprinkling of sesame seeds.

"I’d be happy if i had an 8 inch zucchini!"

You can make an 8" zucchini go further if you dice it up and add some onion.

I was making a delicious zucchini/potato soup, and zucchini kugel for the Sabbath. Gave plenty of zucchini away to my neighbors as well. It was going to be our first hard frost last night, so I mournfully went to my backyard and harvested one baby zucchini, the last one developing on the plant, and one lone delicious strawberry. The cucumbers, cantaloupe, and eggplants were already gone.

Next year!!!

We eat lots of it.

Little ones, big ones, stuffed, pickled, stir fried, raw, in soup, roasted and so on. The day the last zucchini is picked out of the garden is a sad day.

Never grew one that big though.

I think it’s a ‘cucuzzi’ squash. Though commonly 3’ to 4’ long they were that diameter but often curled. But the way squashes cross pollinate, it could be a cucuzzi with something else.
