Investigators found odd, little pills buried in the pockets of Hamas terrorists who attacked Israel on Oct. 7. They were later identified as the drug Captagon, a powerful, synthetic stimulant.
Captagon gained international notoriety in 2015 when it was discovered to be used by ISIS fighters to suppress fear and fatigue prior to carrying out terrorist operations.
Now, because it’s cheap, as well as easy to make and smuggle, Captagon and its counterfeits are likely to remain a favorite tool of extremist militant groups to enhance their soldiers’ violent tendencies. Some reports have even labeled Captagon as “the jihadists’ drug,” according to Reuters, and former Syrian fighters previously claimed it made them “fearless” and gave them “great courage and power” for battle.

The basic concept is a continuation of the original Assassins cult (Muslims) who were said to be users of hashish. Marco Polo wrote about them.
Thuggee were about 2/3s Hindu, 1/3 Muslim, but the whole cult had Hindu origins, and believed they were children of Kali.
Probably a night club drug as well.

Not thuggees, hashishin. They were an Islamic cult in Lebanon, if I recall correctly, and were said to get themselves hashed up before attacks directed by their leader, Hasan ibu Sabbah (I *know* I didn’t spell that right). I remember that this was thought to be the origin of the word “assassin”.
I thought “captagon” meant someone who is hopelessly lost in the Pentagon.
