When ‘non-dogmatic’ information becomes FREE & TRANSPARENT it becomes a threat to those who attempt to control the narrative and/or the stable.
When you are awake, you stand on the outside of the stable (‘group-think’ collective), and have ‘free thought’.
"Free thought" is a philosophical viewpoint which holds that positions regarding truth should be formed on the basis of logic, reason, and empiricism, rather than authority, tradition, revelation, or dogma.
When you are awake, you are able to clearly see.
The choice is yours, and yours alone.
Trust and put faith in yourself.

How did marines come to be called that? What is the origin of the name?
From Latin marinus - “of the sea”. Marinus comes from mare which means “sea”.
My wife has gone to a pro-Israel demonstration today with some of her Republican women cronies.
I asked her if she is protesting to start a war (Gaza+) or stop one.
She answered: “Good question.”
Personally, I think the place to hit them first is with a blockade of Iran until the hostages are freed or the government falls, whichever comes first. I believe this is how President Trump would proceed, at least severely softening up Hamas if Israel still has to go into the tunnels eventually.
I totally agree that Israel should be allowed to completely eliminate the threat. The reason the Mideast terrorism threat never goes away is because every President since Carter has prevented Israel from completing the task. It’s the formula for endless war.
On the other hand, seeing the Ukraine-loving neocons slobbering over the chance to escalate immediately, eventually to full-scale war with Iran and its allies, gives me pause. The simple fact is that neocon/progressive use of American power has been WRONG 100% of the time. It is also at the root of our current weaponized FBI through the heinous, ought-to-be-unconstitutional, Patriot Act.
I’m just sayin’...Why should Gaza be utterly destroyed when the villains pulling the strings are in Iran, and they could be eliminated by interdiction of Iranian oil?
Short of attempting to sink our Carriers with hypersonic missiles, I don’t see what Iran or its potential allies could do about it. Just disarm the Ayatollahs financially and let the Iranian people do the rest.
Of course the current U.S. executive branch, State Dept., FBI etc. has been thoroughly compromised by the conveyor belt of U.S. DOLLARS sent to Iran and channeled back into their pockets.
I wonder...if there were ever a free democracy in Iran again, like the one our CIA overthrew...would they spill the beans about moneys paid to the likes of Obama, Clinton, Kerry and so many other traitors?
Amazingly, 3 of these Iranian agents were recently fired by Biden. According to Maria, these were at the center of the so-called nuclear deal. We can only assume these are the smallest tip of the iceberg.
Re Marines:
But why call that group, specifically, marines? Why not topshipmen or landsmen? All sailors would be marines, if it just means from the sea.
I can see if they were Army, with special sea capabilities. But they are Navy, with land capabilities. Who actually selected that name?

There are problems with trying to translate the English term Marine because “marine” means sailor or navy in romance languages. In Spanish for example, they use the term “infantería de marina”, literally naval infantry. We don’t have that problem in English because we can use both “Marines” and “sailors” to distinguish between the forces.
Thanks...I get it. In boot camp were learned the the USMC was modeled after the British Royal Marines.
I don’t remember ever being told how the term Marine was derived.
Slightly off-topic, but the one that tickles me is the Chinese “Peoples Liberation Army Navy”, which would mean that their Marine equivalent would be the “Peoples Liberation Army Naval Infantry”? Or the “Peoples Liberation Army Navy Army” ...

We got interrupted on last thread. Threw me off when you mentioned Lexington because there were two. But the CV-16 was the second, Essex class. The Essex boats earned their keep. I never worked on any WW II vintage hulls. As I recall Forrestal was maybe the closest. We bundled up a bunch of plate when McCain and his bunch tried to sink it. Patched it up just in time for the same bunch trying to sink the Enterprise. I still have a piece of paperweight steel from that cleanup. The Oriskany got off lucky.
