The lesson of October 7 is clear: Never ever give up your guns, because the minute you do, you become a helpless victim.
On October 7, the day Hamas attacked Israel, Inbal Rabin-Lieberman, a 25-year-old security coordinator at the Kibbutz Nir Am settlement located near the Gaza Strip, saved lives because she had a gun. After the kibbutz came under attack, Inbal hurriedly opened the armory and distributed guns to the twelve-member security team.
She caught the Hamas murderers unawares because they were not expecting to meet armed resistance. Lieberman killed five terrorists while the others gunned down twenty-five before the Israeli Defense Force arrived. Because of her actions, Nir-Am was the only settlement bordering the Gaza Strip that did not suffer Israeli casualties during Hama’s attack.
The number of Israelis killed in the terrorist attack is over 1,400. How many of those deaths could have been averted had more Israelis owned guns? Israel has draconian gun-control laws, worse than those in New York City. Only three percent (3%) of Israeli citizens own guns (compared to about thirty-two percent (32%) of U.S. citizens).
The NY Daily News reports that less than one percent (about 0.5%) of New York City residents have legal handguns. Jews comprise approximately nine percent (9%) of New York City's population, the largest Jewish community in the world outside of Israel.
New York City is trying ridiculously hard to keep guns away from the residents with its draconian gun “safety” laws including unconstitutional, vague, and broad no-carry zones. New York declared much of the city to consist of sensitive locations where legally permitted guns are outlawed. Times Square and Central Park will be gun-free sensitive locations. Gun-free meaning only those bent on murder and mayhem will be carrying a gun.

Seems to me the Democrats plans are to destroy the Middle Class by forcing them to support millions of illegals and then disarm the general population and then “Hello Totalitarian Government”
Is there some tactical demographic reason for the gun restrictions or is just typical lib dog squeeze about guns? I have yet to hear anyone make the demographic case. “We game played it out, and determined semiauto rifles for the general populace would actually cause more deaths in an invasion type scenario because we can’t trust armed segments of our citizenry to fight on our side” probably isn’t something too many pols would like to admit if true, though. Israel has a 20% arab population, not sure what% of them are muslim.
They accept foreign military aid for their defense systems, I don’t begrudge them this. But it seems like allowing their populace to effectively arm themselves would be a pretty cheap way to at least have a fighting chance when guys with rifles knock on the door. Maybe they wouldn’t need as much foreign military aid now if oct 7th would have been different through the defensive use of small arms.

The difference is that, even now, it will still be virtually impossible for the average Israeli to get a weapon, especially a rifle and they are limited to possess only 100 rds of ammo, annually.
Ukraine gave an AK47 or AK74 to anyone that showed up and, I heard, 500 rds.
What changed? Why had readiness dropped to the point that of all the towns/kibbutzim and the music festival (!) that were attacked, only one of them had a security team leader with the presence of mind to prepare for battle?
Where were the IDF or the police? You would think that anyone with any intelligence at all would have suspected that the surrounding violent enemies could attack from any direction, at any time.

The people dropped the ball. They became accustomed to seeing armed people around and surrendered their security to that illusion and allowed the politicians to pass restrictive gun control laws. Those laws are being relaxed now and the gun shops are doing record setting sales. Hamas is probably going to be named “Salesman of the Year” just like Odumbo was back in the day.
