I guess the Establishment is having a hell of a time trying to get its way.
They can't just bring in lots of extra ballots like usual (though they tried by allowing delegates to vote in the behind-closed-doors nomination vote).
Lots of palms to grease. Lots of pockets to line. Lots of smokey backroom deals yet to be made. ;)
Long time good thing. I remember hearing that Vietnamese girls would tell service men that they love them long time, for what that is worth. 😋
“I guess the Establishment is having a hell of a time trying to get its way”.
I could be wrong but I’m thinking they lost their guy so they now want to pop another one in there to do their bidding.
Votes are being bought and sold. Takes time and money.
Well, they started by using it as an excuse to give themselves a week off.
Interesting. There’s a statue of Banks in Waltham, MA where I used to work. He was also governor.
No matter who becomes SoH, do we expect anything good to pass?
No. Not of significance. Perhaps a bit of slowing of the bad.
We the People say, “It’s time for the GOPe to ‘compromise’.”
Shuffling the deck chairs ... they don’t want to bring a vote to the floor when Scalise does not have the votes ... he’s more than ‘a couple’ off, too many to pay off in his case, IMO.
Grab a penny.
heads - Jordan
tails - Scalise
Up in the air it goes.
Down it comes.
And the winner is...
That’s how I see it too.
Scalise is McCarthy 2.0, probably worse. Most of them are. How McCaul is in Congress is something I’ll never understand.
Unlike some one here, it’s hard for me to have sympathy for someone like him. He’s done nothing but line his pockets and the pockets of his donors, while pretending to be a Conservative.
Harsh? Don’t care. Mean? Don’t care.
Since Clinton won his first election there have been, maybe, 10-15 people in any of the 3 branches of government that actually cared about the people. Damn near all of them got run off. And quite frankly, I don’t even think it’s that many.
So, here we are.
This guy seems to have a good grasp of things: https://twitter.com/RepKeithSelf/status/1712493518101381420?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1712493518101381420%7Ctwgr%5Eb4026e9d8e443ec2e75657e55e2f6bc196dd9893%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com%2Fpolitics%2F2023%2F10%2F12%2Fsteve-scalise-hemorrhages-support-as-challenges-mount-for-winning-the-gavel%2F
For those not on Twitter...
While I had hoped to support the Republican Conference nominee for Speaker, it has become evident that all the agreements and Rules with the former Speaker are null and void.
In January, we held the line for a Rules package that restores power back to the people. We need a leader with the same resolve.
Therefore, I will be casting my vote on the House Floor for Jim Jordan.
Maybe there’s a Vaseline shortage
I do have a name to float for Speaker: Rep. Scott Perry. He’s a retired brigadier general, and current Freedom Caucus chairman. He was one of the first to endorse Trump in ‘16. He hasn’t voted for a dime of spending on Ukraine, proving he is not a member of the Military Industrial Complex. He has never voted for a Continuing Resolution or omnibus appropriations bill. He is tied for the number 1 conservative ranking by the ACU. He doesn’t take special interest money. Perry is adamantly pro life, but fully understands the USSC has made abortion a state issue. He is completely pro 2a and has more than likely read the constitution unlike most Republicans.
Oh, and most importantly he’s my congresscritter. He’s a right wing, ultra whacko, MAGA guy just like me, except he has the temperament to be a member of Congress, unlike me.
If you're trying to RIG something to turn out a certain way it takes a little more TIME and PLANNING than usual.
“If you’re trying to RIG something to turn out a certain way it takes a little more TIME and PLANNING than usual.”
Maybe they’ll put posterboard over the windows.
If Scalise is elected Speaker there will be no change to the standard operating procedures. The GOPe will continue to screw things up as they work for their wealthy donors and carry water for the rats.
