The evidence for keeping weed illegal keeps mounting — even as the laws get looser. A new, peer-reviewed study (on a significant data set of nearly 60,000 Canadians) has shown that adults who misuse pot have a 60% higher risk of experiencing their first heart attack, stroke, or other major cardiovascular event.
In other words: Weed’s not a harmless vice. It’s a killer, like cigarettes. And unlike cigarettes, it literally drives people insane.
A massive Danish study based on nearly 7 million health records drew a strong correlation between heavy cannabis use and increased risk of schizophrenia in young men.
That’s to say nothing of the fact that pot, no matter what its advocates claim, likely serves as a gateway drug: Evidence suggests a link between cannabis use in kids and later opioid use, and the drug can play a role in rewiring the reward circuitry in young brains.

It makes people believe the crazy.
Hospitals emergency rooms are getting inundated with psychotic marijuana reactions. I believe legalized marijuana use is contributing to the ballooning homelessness problem.
Alcohol is also bad for you, we can all agree on that right? Well my uncle was a hard core whiskey drinker and he lived to be 90. So there must not be anything wrong with alcohol them, right?
Yep my grandpa was never without a pipe or cigar in his mouth, bacon and fried eggs every day, killed him at 98
Because it should be a choice.
FWIW, I stopped smoking weed on September 2 of this year, after about 45 years of smoking. I’m 65 and I couldn’t justify it anymore. It was affecting my BPM. It wasn’t hard to stop. The dark circles under my eyes are gone. When I inhale I can tell a difference.
It was a decision based on my own self-interest.
My granddaughter and her boyfriend, both 20 yrs old, used to be avid pot smokers. In January, the BF started having chest pains whenever he smoked weed. The episodes are believed to be a form of panic attacks and he’s undergone myriad tests to find out the cause. As a result of the chest pains, he stopped smoking pot and my granddaughter has cut back dramatically. Baby steps, of course, but I hope it continues. I definitely believe this study has some validity.
…You don’t know the THC level in weed….
With all due respect, you don’t know what you are talking about. The THC content of weed for sale in pot clubs is clearly marked. One can buy really potent stuff, or one can buy weaker stuff. This is a result of weed being legalized. There are multiple price points at pot stores.
No one buys pot from strangers in the park. There is an underground market, but the cost of what you are buying is an indicator of its THC content.
Interesting, your expertise.
I'd be cool with anybody doing any kind of drug he wanted as long as we get rid of welfare. As long as I'm on the take for other people ruining their lives, as often happens with drugs, it's my business. Make it none of my business then I'm cool with people playing with drugs.
I wouldn’t call myself an expert. I have some experience.
Yeah, I got that email too.. I just rolled my eyes :P
I’m sorry.
I read the room wrong.
No amount of alcohol has been deemed safe
Therefore - attack weed
Tobacco causes cancer not insanity
“I’ve never been drunk, never smoked pot, never smoked tobacco.
“I’d be cool with anybody doing any kind of drug he wanted as long as we get rid of welfare.”
So until we get rid of welfare, you support banning pot, alcohol, and tobacco?
I’m saying I’m on the fence about it.

Whoa! You’ve done it now. Don’t be knocking people’s pot here, they will not like it.
A one time friend in St Petersburg was an incessant mj smoker for years. The last time I saw him he could not complete a three word sentence. He had a well paid job detailing new yachts in St. Petersburg but could not carry on any sort of conversation. 5 years before, he spoke normally and intelligently.
Well, 74 here. Havin’ a few beers. Used to do weed, but not in the last 10 years, say. My bike is in the garage, and in working order, as far as I know. I do go for walks!
