The evidence for keeping weed illegal keeps mounting — even as the laws get looser. A new, peer-reviewed study (on a significant data set of nearly 60,000 Canadians) has shown that adults who misuse pot have a 60% higher risk of experiencing their first heart attack, stroke, or other major cardiovascular event.
In other words: Weed’s not a harmless vice. It’s a killer, like cigarettes. And unlike cigarettes, it literally drives people insane.
A massive Danish study based on nearly 7 million health records drew a strong correlation between heavy cannabis use and increased risk of schizophrenia in young men.
That’s to say nothing of the fact that pot, no matter what its advocates claim, likely serves as a gateway drug: Evidence suggests a link between cannabis use in kids and later opioid use, and the drug can play a role in rewiring the reward circuitry in young brains.

Cool, now let’s talk about alcohol
And tobacco.

“Weed’s not a harmless vice.”
Are any vices actually harmless?
Some folks love Big Government, and Big Government loves to use the Drug War as an excuse to violate the Bill of Rights.
Firearms, Yea!
And lack of exercise.
Bacon double cheeseburgers are not harmless. Ban them!
Money and money. Weed makes money, and the government wants it.
Don’t forget about pornography.
It depends. If you’re talking about sweets in moderation, than no. But if you’re talking about drugs, then yes.
Today’s marijuana is not the old 60s hippie weed. It has been hybridized to have a stronger THC amount, which makes it an equivalent to narcotics.
And alcoholic beverages have the percentage/proof listed on the package-by law. You don’t know the THC level in weed.
“If you’re talking about sweets in moderation, than no. But if you’re talking about drugs, then yes.”
Even in moderation? Including the drug alcohol?
“Some folks love Big Government, and Big Government loves to use the Drug War as an excuse to violate the Bill of Rights.”
Govern me harder Daddy!
Bread and circuses.
“It has been hybridized to have a stronger THC amount,”
True - just as liquor is stronger than beer.
“which makes it an equivalent to narcotics.”
Nonsense.
“And alcoholic beverages have the percentage/proof listed on the package-by law.”
Ditto for legal marijuana.
My daughter has been able to kick the hard drugs and alcohol, but can’t kick the marijuana.
