McDonald’s is being sued over a hot coffee spill, again.
This time, a San Francisco location is being accused of serving a “scalding” cup of coffee with an improperly attached lid, which allegedly resulted in the coffee pouring out on plaintiff Mable Childress’ body and causing “severe burns” after she tried drinking it.
The lawsuit, filed last week, alleged that the elderly woman is suffering from “physical pains, emotional distress and other damages.” The restaurant’s negligence was a “substantial factor” for her injuries, it alleged.
Childress also said in the lawsuit that the restaurant employees “refused” to help her, a point that the McDonald’s denied.
“We take every customer complaint seriously and when Childress reported her experience to us later that day, our employees and management team spoke to her within a few minutes and offered assistance,” the McDonald’s franchisee owner, Peter Ou, said in a statement to CNN.
“My restaurants have strict food safety protocols in place, including training crew to ensure lids on hot beverages are secure,” Ou said, adding that the company is “reviewing this new legal claim in detail.”
This case echoes the famous McDonald’s hot coffee lawsuit several decades ago, in which another woman spilled coffee on her lap and suffered third-degree burns. Third-degree burns are the most severe and penetrate through the entire skin.

Mickey D’s should just take coffee off of their menu.
Some of their customers aren’t smart enough to handle it.
pretty soon people will sue coffee companies after they buy their pods, make a cup of coffee, and scorch their mouth- or microwave coffee at home, and burn their mouths - if liberals get their way, there will be double lawsuits, coffee maker and microwave maker- maybe even a 3’rd- suing hte coffee cup maker
This is a fundraising activity, nothing more. The scammers know there are always an attorney desperate enough to take the suit, a judge who is dumb enough to hear the case and a jury dumb enough to convicet and sometimes award millions. There’s no downside; all you need is a trifecta of dumb.
Lol!
maybe have a policy where only competent proven coffee drinkers can buy coffee- lol
“Evidently it is too dangerous to sell coffee to women because they don’t know how to handle it safely.”
Oh, so because of a few grifting idiots, you’re blaming
‘all women’ for stupidity now?
Not so fast. Haven’t you also experienced being handed a cup of coffee, looking at it and seeing the lid is attached (I do this only because of the first rediculous lawsuit in NM, then grabbing the cup with a little too much gusto, and pop, you squeezed the lid off?
No one needs to pay. Stop these ludicrous lawsuits.

That’s, ‘Fryin’ pan upside the haid talk,’ Buster! ;)
I thought that was assumed. 😂
You should make up some “Maestro approved!” stickers and slap them on some of the balms.
Sure, I’ve had that happen too. But we don’t know whether that’s what happened, or whether what the person suing alleges is what happened. That’s for the courts to figure out.
LOL
“I’ll have an Egg McMuffin, an order of hash browns and a regular coffee, please.”
“OK. May I please see your hot drink competency certificate?”
You must have the IQ of a turnip.
Had a buddy in the USAF do a similar thing while trying to hold onto his hot cup of java from the base Burger King and drive his standard transmission Jeepster a short while after the initial McD's story. All he got out of it was a nickname (Crotch).
“You must have the IQ of a turnip.”
And you must be a woman-hater. Own it.
It’s called “sarcasm,” and the ability to detect it is a function of IQ.

Not necessarily. I see Freepers not ‘detecting’ it all the time here when there’s no sarc tag. But your rush and leap to insult is very telling about your character. Thanks for that.
Women’s suffrage, however, is a different story entirely.
