A New England Patriots season ticket holder has been 'beaten to death' by a Miami Dolphins supporter at the Gillette Stadium, according to witnesses.
Father-of-two Dale Mooney, 53, of Newmarket, New Hampshire, died following an incident in the 300-tier segment of the arena just before 11pm on Sunday.
The Norfolk County DA's Office said cops responded to calls for medical aid in the section at 10.57pm and 'the matter remains under active investigation'.
A photo from the Foxborough, Massachusetts stadium show EMTs scrambling to revive someone who is out of shot on the ground as worried fans watch on.
Videos also show security trying to break up a scuffle, and medics administering CPR a short time afterwards.
One witness from the scene, Joseph Kilmartin, described the alleged attack by a Miami Dolphins fan as 'hard to watch'.
'They started tussling around for a few minutes,' Kilmartin told WCVB.
'At one point another Dolphins fan walked over. He punched him three times, and the man just went out. It was pretty hard to watch.'
Several other anonymous witnesses gave similar descriptions of the 'brutal' attack which caused Mooney to 'crumble', while speaking with Boston 10 at the scene.
'One word I can really use is shocking,' one bystander said. 'My thoughts go out to that man's family. It's awful what happened,' another person commented.
Mooney's devastated wife said she felt 'numb' after hearing the horrific news about her husband and father-of-two, who has been a dedicated Patriots season ticket holder for three decades.
'I just feel numb I can't even believe this is for real,' Lisa Mooney told WCVB.
'I don't understand why people have to go to that extreme. Why can't it just be fun, that's all it's supposed to be, just a fun family event.'

Amazes me that after the game the police escort u to the exits and onto the street KNOWING there are several thousand BUZZED (I smell it in every stadium) and drunk folks turned loose against the rest of us. No one gets pulled over and field sobriety tested. Time to exclude adult beverages from
all sports. I just got Sunday Ticket for 400 bux. POTTY IS 10 FEET AWAY AND THE SPARE FRIDGE IS IN THE MAN CAVE. 400 dollars is what I would pay for 2 of us for 2 games at minimum. Now I get best seats in the house for every game played.
That’s nothing compared to European soccer fans.
If you knew where Newmarket was…you would realize how funny your comment is.
Well, this was not an unprovoked incident—at least not in any article I’ve seen. These guys were in an argument over the teams.
What I don’t understand is how the “man code” of not being the “third person in” a fight has gone by the wayside.
But, I haven’t been in a street fight since I turned 17. My Dad took me aside at that time and pointed out that at 18 it turns from a bar fight into “assault and battery.” Evidently, these clowns never got that message.
Going to an MFL football game these days is like going to a “Violent but peaceful” Black Looters Movement “Protest/Race Riot”. Somebody is going to get killed.
Looks like they let crazy Philly fans out of their cages and are bussing them up to other stadiums.
True to what extent? You watch football so your not to bright, go to a game you’re even less bright. Trump goes to games... just saying.
That was a dumbass statement at best. What about highschool football? College football or is it just the NFL or any major league sports?
Can’t stand sports...maybe the guy is a closet liberal, maybe he can’t stand competition and winners and losers and believes participarion trophies are more important.
I hate the social justice BS, the woke crap in the NFL and other sports and the off the field BS but I like the game and competition as it’s played.
My guess…fat, drunk guy had a heart attack with all the excitement of getting in a fight.
This is nothing new; it goes back millennia. In Imperial Rome, there were two rival chariot teams, the green and the blue. Each had its devoted fans and deadly riots between the two factions during and after the races were commonplace.
i don’t get it either- i don’t understand people following their college football 50 years after they left school, either.
Youre quite correct, but I was using the media rules of reporting crime in my thinking. If the victim is white, but no description of the perp, the perp is probably a protected minority.
Well, everyone likes different things, different activities.
You traveled and paid big bucks for a concert? I would never do that, but I’m also not going to be critical of those who do. I’m not going to criticize football fans who travel and pay the big bucks. It’s their free choice.
Yes, we understand that despite how it’s portrayed in the media, whites are a majority of the population, particularly with regards to attending sporting events. Blacks remain @ 13%, due to violent crime, poor nutrition and abortion.
I have to give Kaepernick credit—his antics and the NFL knee bending exercises broke me free from the brainwashing...
Ever since I have no interest in the NFL or any other organized football.
Whites are generally 95-98% of the crowd
It stands to reason this is likely whites
I don’t see many blacks with means I’m opa locka to fly up
It takes a lot of money to attend professional sporting events, college is not that far away when you consider everything involved.
Outside of attending sporting events, I understand the vast difference between % of population versus % of violent crimes committed.
Think about it, if you were white and attended an event that was overwhelmingly black, it probably wouldn’t be a good idea to get drunk and start fighting.
Conversely, if you are black, getting drunk and fighting while attending an event that is overwhelmingly white is probably not a good idea, especially when the white people around you are also getting drunk.
Yeah... Generally there’s no drunken us vs. them dynamic at a concert. I was at a Who concert where a good part of the audience wasn’t too thrilled with the B-52s as the middle act, but nobody got killed. I guess we all have to be mindful that we could be shot at the theater for shushing the wrong person
Winter is coming. In more ways than one.
That sounds much better than all a person has to do to go to one of those games. A better view and a more pleasurable experience.
