Respiratory syncytial virus, usually shortened to RSV, is a common respiratory virus that can cause mild, cold-like symptoms. While most people recover within a couple weeks, the illness can be severe for infants and older adults, sometimes requiring hospitalization.
Earlier this year, the CDC approved an RSV vaccine for adults, adding another shot to combat the “tripledemic” we were in last winter between COVID, the flu and RSV.
Unlike COVID and the flu, medical professionals are not encouraging everyone to get vaccinated against RSV. In fact, only a handful of the population should get this vaccine.
Here’s what to know about who should get the vaccine and when.
WHO SHOULD GET AN RSV VACCINE?
Only a small portion of the population should get an RSV vaccine.
• This includes people who are 60 and older who have compromised immune systems and/or heart problems who would be deeply impacted by a flu-like virus, said UNC Health’s Dr. David Wohl.
Oh yeh, I can hardly wait. 🙄
That's why we have to make sure everyone knows about it.
I note it’s being advertised as an RSV Adjuvant vaccine.
Really? What exactly are the adjuvants?
I refuse any and all vaccines. You name it, I avoid it.
Translation: You are all going to die from a cold.
You definitely should get the shingles vaccine. I begged it doctor for four years. Finally, he allowed me to get it. I’m so happy. I know people who got it and it’s hell on earth. Don’t be stupid like the antivaxxers who brought back diseases that were out of America due to selfishness.
Now all they need is the big, fat used car salesman saying “And dis time I’m being honest wichou.”
First of all, shingles is not contagious. And if the CDC recommends it, I'm not getting it. I have a very robust immune system and I'm not going to screw it up by getting vaccinations that cause more problems than they solve.
Wow. I hope you never get the hideous disease. Some live with pain for life from it.
My daughter’s a nurse. I’ll go along with her recommendation.
For some reason, the powers that be and their media mouthpieces, really really really want us to all get a vaccine. It matters not which vaccine we get, or even if we are at risk at whatever disease it is supposed to prevent, just get a da*n vaccine! Any vaccine!
FU, I'll take my chances with the flu bug.
My 2 brothers got the first shingles shot (2-shot series). They did not go back for shot #2 because the first one was so rough (ill after the shot). Dr. McCullough said the shingles shot was the worst he’s ever gotten.
Shingles happens when your immune system is low. Shingles is also an adverse effect from the COVID shots, which crushes your immune system. A cousin has had repeat shingles (3 times at least) since she’s been getting the COVID shots/boosters. More than a few other friends & relatives have all gotten shingles after getting the COVID shots/boosters. Avoid the MRNA shots, keep your immune system high (Vit D, Vit C, other nutraceuticals, real food, fresh air, etc.) and you are much less likely to get shingles.
I disagree. In February, March and April of 2003 I was providing daycare for my newborn, premature granddaughter. Preemies are very susceptible to RSV, especially in winter, but there was an RSV vaccine available. I would take her for a booster shot every two weeks, which was all the longer the vaccine was effective. I was grateful for anything that kept her healthy and growing then, and I still am. She turned 20 in January.
You're free to do that.
Freedom to disagree with Government Almighty is rapidly disappearing.
CDC advisory panel examines GSK and Pfizer RSV vaccines, set to vote today on recommended use!:
Look out, GSK. Pfizer has its adult RSV vaccine approval and is raring to launch!
While GSK’s vaccine has shown efficacy of 82.6% in preventing RSV in year one and 94.1% efficacy in preventing severe disease, those figures drop to 77.3% and 84.6% in the second RSV season, respectively, with a median follow-up time of 14 months from administration.
Additionally, another subset of the trial showed that those receiving a second shot a year after initial administration received no boost in second season efficacy. This means “revaccination after 12 months does not appear to confer additional benefit,” the company wrote.
Let me translate:
“Anyone approaching the SS/medicare leeching age or otherwise likely to cost money to be kept alive.”
All jabs have adjuvants in them. This is just a way of not otherwise being specific.
“For those we really want to triple down on their death shots this fall...” Or, more scientifically, “Here comes another wonderful mRNA kill shot!”
