The Flat Earther next door: These are the US states with highest share of conspiracy theorists, based on residents' internet search history... so do YOU live in a flat or round state? Alaskans were the most interested in 'Flat Earth' theories, Google searches show New Jersey natives entertained 'Flat Earth' claims least, per same search data
Earth's greatest minds have known our world is round since at least as far back as the day Pythagoras made his calculations in ancient Greece over 2,000 years ago.
But as you might have guessed from fighting with relatives and old friends on Facebook, as many as 10 percent of Americans still believe the earth is flat, according to survey data compiled in 2021.
If you're looking for a place offline to get away from conversations about 'Flat Earth' conspiracy theories (or maybe where to go to join your fellow true believers), a new analysis of Google searches across all 50 US states might help.
Die-hard 'Flat Earthers' may want to bundle up before relocating to Alaska, whose residents searched the most for information on the widely discredited theory.
And those looking to move on from the 'Flat Earth' debate entirely may want to find space in the densely populated state of New Jersey, which had the lowest interest in researching the topic online per 10,000 residents.
Find out below if you live in a 'Flat State' or a 'Round State.'

If there is an annual awards ceremony in hell for “The most ridiculous lie ever sold to humans”, there is most likely a very proud demon somewhere gloating over his grand prize trophy entitled “Flat Earthers”... which to this day brings the biggest rounds of laughter whenever it is mentioned.
A more important question is to find out how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.
New Jersey—hollah!!!!
We do believe, though, that the ghost of Jimmy Hoffa, burdened with heavy chains, the links of which he himself forged throughout life, comes out to terrorize the people of the Meadowlands every Christmas Eve.
Flat Earther and Climate Cult , same thing ,LOL
It's analogous to us generation X programmers decades ago postulating what-if explanations for what we saw on Star Trek Next Generation. LOL
Just go to the ocean, and watch a tall ship go beyond the horizon.
The bottom of the ship disappears as it follows the earth's curve, the top of the ship is the last you will see.
Of course, you need very good visibility to see it for the roughly 10 miles or more, because of local conditions.
Remember, surveying instruments use gravity to determine level. A bubble level at the equator and at the North or South poles will still show level, even though they point 90 degrees from the equator to the poles.
NOT 10% of Americans!!!!!!!
That’s really it. I gleaned that without even reading the linked article, but after reading the article, it was reinforced.
And, is it my imagination, or are most of those on the graphic displayed, blue states?
FE people ARE nutz, and should be horribly ridiculed. All people who have chosen to be morons should be ridiculed, shunned, and pushed out of society. They are a cancer.
The horizon line is the curve. So of course you’ve seen it. You just didn’t realize it.
We’re only about 4 times bigger than the moon. And of course the distance is the same. So the earth is a larger part of the moon’s sky than vice versa, but not most of the sky larger.
Establishment types believe stuff even more idiotic than a flat earth.
They believe in transgenderism, same-sex marriage, covid19 vaccines are good, climate controlled by a trace atmospheric gas, electric vehicles are better than gas-powered vehicles, the 2020 election wasn’t rigged, and on and on and on and ...
Liberals can’t even define a woman without having a biology degree and believe there are hundreds of human “genders,” whatever those are.
“Flat-earthers” are the least of our problems.
“watch a tall ship go beyond the horizon. “
Then break out the telescope or zoom lens and it’s back ... so ..how far before it really drops out of sight?
” use gravity to determine level.”
hmmm.... that’s something I never thought of .. so your saying that my level line actually curves with the curve ...
hmmm ... that still sort of twists my brain but it would explain the anomaly.
Now what about the picture from the moon?
keep going ... your doing good.
/S - /LOL
“4 times bigger”
So shouldn’t the earth look 4 times bigger?
Doesn’t this really depend on who gets to define what is a conspiracy theory?
What about the plethora of conspiracy theories that turned out to be facts?
This is a state-by-state conspiracy barometer which indicates to me where people still retain their individual discernment and their sanity.
Ish. The math between spherical size and how it looks as a “disk” is a little complicated (meaning I forgot the formula and don’t want to do the math). But basically if the moon is the size of a quarter in earth’s sky then the earth should be about the size of a silver dollar in the moon’s sky. Bigger but not HUGE, the two bodies just aren’t that different in size.
