A summer surge of COVID-19 has some wondering aloud if we should return to mask mandates. For now, the official line, despite the media effort to rekindle coronavirus hysteria, is that it’s unlikely. But we heard that before, in 2020, right before public health officials dropped their mask tyranny on us. If they do it again, we have an obligation to say no.
Are we calling for civil disobedience? Are we suggesting that Americans resist orders that are not laws but are instead decrees issued by despots? Absolutely, and without reservation.
Masks are dehumanizing. When we cover our faces, we no longer look like people. We look like monsters, freaks from bad science fiction movies. Half-blank faces stare back at us as our ability to communicate is skewed. A masked society is a hideous society.
When we wear masks because we are told to, we subjugate ourselves, surrender our agency to others. We symbolically kneel before abusive authorities that should have no authority over us. Are we free people or are we subordinates to politicians and an administrative structure that has accrued illegitimate power?
Masks project fear. Who wants to live in a world that is frightened, driven by panic, hiding behind a facade of protection? It was demoralizing to see the extremes that people went to to cover their faces during the pandemic. (Some of those in the video referenced here were clearly using caricatures to spoof the mandates, but we don’t need those again, either.)
Masks are vehicles for virtue signaling. Many wear them as demonstrations of their moral superiority – they care so much. Government officials find a perverse pleasure in decreeing mask mandates – because they care so much. Masked busybodies have accosted, sometimes violently, the unmasked, who simply want to exercise their liberty.
For all the fighting, some of it literal, as we just noted, over masking, there’s no evidence that mask mandates work.
First, in August 2021, more than a year into the COVID madness, former Director of the Bureau of Justice Statistics Jeffrey H. Anderson wrote in City Journal that “research suggests that Americans’ many months of mask-wearing has likely provided little to no health benefit and might even have been counterproductive in preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus.”...
Poor Meg looks like an alien now. I don’t understand who thinks plastic surgery looks better. Just grow old and be as healthy as possible…
I don't think of this in terms of commercial/admiralty law at all. I'm talking about simple property rights.
If I own a business establishment and I want my customers to wear masks, LA Lakers jerseys, or MAGA hats while they are inside the building, then they either do what I tell them or they go somewhere else.
I don't understand where anyone on this website would get the idea that they can tell a business owner how to run his establishment.
Work somewhere else.
There's a lesson to be learned here. When you rely on someone else to pay your wages, then you don't even meet a basic minimal requirement to call yourself a free man.
A while back I read that the ding-bat that is supposed to take “Fraud Fauci’s” place wants everyone to wear their masks even in their own homes. Where do they dig these nut cases up from????
The Big Cities will, anywhere else, no.
bttt
That's a good argument to make.
But on principle, I have no problem with a business establishment that excludes any customers for any reason whatsoever.
They are still around, just taking on different absurdities.
And Carter voters.
There's no admiralty in the USA.
I understand the position and agree, but our world isn’t like yours and my thoughts.
It’s a brave new world…
>I don’t understand where anyone on this website would get the idea that they can tell a business owner how to run his establishment.<
Bake the cake!
I’m sort of with you on this. But, will the business owner be upset if I stage a rally outside his store to publicly humiliate any patron entering the building wearing a mask?

I was typing a response to this, when the sky grew dark, so dark the garden lights outside came on, and the Internet went out.
Her it is...
Back in 2020, we were all unified and ready to do whatever it took to fight an unknown biological attack on the world.
But, after a couple of weeks, the totaltarians showed up, and the real agenda became clear.
Those of us that saw through it were quickly labeled as conspiracy theorists.
Those of us that refused to mask up, or to get a clot shot were now the enemies of the country.
They wanted us arrested, isolated, rounded up and sent to camps, or outright killed.
We have not forgotten this.
We have not forgiven this.
And we will not stand for it.
Reason will be met with reason.
And violence will be met with the same.
It’s not gonna be easy this time around.
I didn’t wear a nasty mask the last time around. I’m not wearing one in the future.
The only time I can see myself wearing a mask would be if I were visiting a loved one who is very ill.
If someone hands me a mask, I’ll blow my nose in it and hand it back with a thanks and a smile.
It was more than that, it was sickening. It showed just how worthless and fearful and weak most people are.
When government feels no resistance to its dictates, it knows it’s free to tighten the yoke another notch.
Which many of us knew would happen the moment the "COVID" fraud started in March 2020. But we were excoriated and shamed by the fearful, ignorant wretches, many of whom still wear masks to this day, and some of whom still have the temerity to post their stupidity on FR.
There he is...
