A homeowner stopped by to check on his suburban Atlanta property — only to be arrested for trespassing.
Days after the departure of a previous tenant, Tim Arko pulled into the driveway of his house in desirable Decatur, where he suddenly encountered a stranger waving a gun in his face.
“I just jumped the fence and ran. I didn’t know what else to do,” Arko told local channel WSB-TV.
“I didn’t walk in on a family eating dinner. I walked in on weapons, a prostitute, a bunch of dogs in the back, my fence broken down,” he told a reporter.
After dialing 911 to report the intrusion, Arko was astonished to find himself being arrested and taken into police custody.
“They told the police that I was a home invader and that it was their home. And so I ended up being arrested and detained,” Arko said.
Since then, Arko has been fighting to evict the alleged squatters in court.
Six months later, they are still living in Arko’s home.
Two people have died in the residence from overdoses during that time.
Code enforcement has even cited Arko for not properly maintaining the house he legally can’t access.
After lengthy court delays, an eviction order was finally signed.

If they were all killed as the intruders they were…
$500 K only? Steal of the century.
This state of affairs exists because the left hates private property and willingly allows intruders to break in and take over. This is only one step on the way to the elimination of private property.
In many states, ejecting squatters is a law enforcement duty (often the county sheriff).
which makes sense since such confrontations have “Violence” written all over them...
Well, there goes the neighborhood..................
This is insane!......................
This is what you get for voting in Democrats. A reckoning is coming.
Pay their dealer to give them heavy fentanyl laced dope.
Acquaintance of mine made the big mistake of letting a friend crash on his couch (friend was down and out, just broke up with his girlfriend, etc.). Took him almost a year to get rid of the guy.
Then the ultimate insult comes when you get an income tax bill for imputed income for the time you couldn't rent the house. Usually around $5K.
Anyone what to guess the color of the squatters and the color of the police officers...
That’s it.
This is where we all play “Nearer my God to Thee!”, as we slip beneath the surface of a once superior society.
I had a lawyer tell me to pay the squatters $3K cash when they leave the property. Waive the cash in their faces. He said it was cheaper and quicker than paying his firms fee for services. He was correct.
That’s crazy. Who are these people?
“I walked in on weapons, a prostitute, a bunch of dogs in the back, my fence broken down”
What the hell was Hunter Biden doing there?
One of the most dangerous delusions most Americans have is that their “property” is somehow protected if they are not in possession. Our real property ownership is based on a piece of paper recorded in the county records, and the willingness of the justice system to enforce it, and nothing more. As the political winds change, I foresee more and more challenges to the simple concept of property ownership. Or more accurately, a lack of even-handed enforcement protecting it.
But of course, since the right to own property is tantamount to personal freedom, it makes perfect sense that the left wants to destroy that. Law enforcement and the court system generally still enforce those rights both because of centuries of legal tradition, but also because they expect their property rights to be protected as well. Once the leftist judiciary begins to selectively enforce property rights (just like 1st amendment rights), the game is close to over.
Seems to me you could pay $5k cash to MS13 to swing by and exterminate the pests in such a manner that behavior isn’t repeated. If the cops won’t enforce the law, gangs will do a lot of violence for money; things that no cop would ever do
And $5k is going to be cheaper than legal fees and property damage. The gangs could have a wonders little industry running on the side
All made possible by incompetence of the DEMs
$3K is a first and last month's rent on a new place that they go to. Since they have trashed your place, they gladly take it to move and become someone else's problem.
If you retain a lawyer to do the job, you'll be spending north of $5K if you live in a cold climate city. Come November 1st, the court won't evict them until April 1st if they have children.
