The embarrassment is real for Bud Light.
Several distributors of Anheuser-Busch beer say they have accepted the fact they’ve lost money — and a lot of it — due to consumers boycotting Bud Light. And not just that, but they’ve also given up completely on trying to win back customers who have been negatively affected by the anti-American beer’s Dylan Mulvaney campaign, according to the New York Post.
Hiring freezes and layoffs have been going on for four months, while some beer truck drivers have been slammed with hecklers and other harassment while Bud Light’s sales have tanked over 25%. As a result, wholesalers of Anheuser-Busch have resigned to the large number of customers they’ve lost permanently, and in response, they need to focus on a new set of beer drinkers.
“Consumers have made a choice,” an unidentified executive from a Texas-based beer distributor told the New York Post. “They have left [Bud Light] and that’s how it’s going to be. I don’t envision a big percentage of them coming back.”
Other Anheuser-Busch branded beers such as Budweiser, Busch Light and Michelob Ultra have also been tanking in sales since Bud Light decided to disastrously partner with Mulvaney.
The executive went on to say that customers have most likely found out that Bud Light competitors including Miller Lite and Coors Light “are a very similar product.” Reigning victorious in the beer war all comes down to “whoever is best at marketing,” the executive told The Post.
God, what a disaster.
Well I guess the woman VP who didn’t want Bud Light to be a frat Ty beer succeeded
I went out for a few drinks with co-workers last Friday. I didn’t see any Bud Light in the coolers, so I asked the bartender if they had any Bud Light? She responded yes, do you want one?
“No, I’m just checking to see if they’re still a going concern.”
Beyond her wildest dreams.
This will become a case study in business schools all over the world...........

AB’s corporate culture is suicidal.
The folks in the executive suite are halfway down the jump over the cliff and the view still looks ok....
;-)
The B school case would have a timeline with the question—Could you have saved it on this day? Or this day? Or this day?
“Bud Light? She responded yes, do you want one?
“No, I’m just checking to see if they’re still a going concern.”
For next time:
“Do you want one.”
“Well it depends on whether or not you allow discharging weapons in this bar. I use them for target practice.”
It would not be possible to save it on any day, except if the upper management had taken a good look at what their new-hire did..............
As soon as this happened, I said to my wife that Bud Light would never, ever recover. I cannot imagine being in college and walking into a party with a 30 pack of Bud Light—my peers would make endless fun of that.
The interesting part is that Bud Light sent out personalized beer cans to many, many “influencers.” It was a kind of “throw away” promotion—the kind that you would hand over to summer interns. And yet, we hear nothing from the other “influencers.” When you watched the reaction from the Senior Leaders at AB, they had no idea of what was going on. It was such a low level decision, everyone was caught flat footed.
This entire episode will be studied in Marketing classes at business schools for the next century.
The take away for marketers is that they have to take every contact with every “supporter” very seriously and then “think it through.” My guess is that influencer sponsorships just got more difficult to get. And that is OK.
DUMB
No it won’t. It won’t be discussed. Only the merits of ESG
Thing is, if it was a decent tasting it would survive. Because it’s a mediocre American horsepiss beer that relies on marketing instead of quality, Bud Lite is going on the ash heap of history.

People have discovered that there are other cheap, weak beers out there and they like them......................
I’ve been noticing a lot more “Anglos” buying Modelo. IMHO Modelo is far superior to the watery tasteless stuff Budweiser has been peddling.
If the German brewers would just up their game and start exporting their wunderful brews to the US in massive quantities, they would soon own the American market.............
When the stockholders realize the leadership is detrimental to their profits they sell off. If the pressure keeps up...we can see even more devaluation of the conglomerate.
....and in response, they need to focus on a new set of beer drinkers.

I thought horse face had this figured out? They didn’t want the frat type as their target market so that should be simple to replace.
Maybe, but I think the bulk of stock is owned by mutual fund companies or pension funds. I think even the Royal Bank of Canada owns around 7-million shares.
The boy playing an underage school girl was the first nail in the coffin for this household, and when the VP of marketing confirmed it with her “fratty, out of touch” speech, it became a solid decision.
