Three individuals still at large after assaulting 68-year-old woman (Source: Rincon Police Department) (Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A Georgia woman, Donna Hansbrough, aged 68, was terminated from her job at Lowe’s after taking matters into her own hands to stop three brazen shoplifters who had stolen thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.
Hansbrough had been a dedicated employee at the company for 13 years until the incident occurred. According to Lowe’s, her termination was based on her violation of company policy against personally restraining shoplifters, even though her intentions were to prevent theft.
In an interview with the Effingham Herald, Hansbrough recounted the harrowing experience. She explained, “They say that if you see somebody stealing something out the door, not to pursue, not to go out. I lost it.” She further added, “I grabbed the cart. I don’t actually remember going out but I did. And I grabbed the cart that had the stolen items in [it].”
During the incident, one of the alleged perpetrators allegedly punched the 68-year-old woman in the face three times, causing her to sustain a black eye and injuries.
Law enforcement officials are currently searching for the accused perpetrators – Takyah Berry, Joseph Berry, and Jamar Lawton. They have released photos of these individuals and called on the community to report any sightings or information related to their whereabouts.
Responding to her termination, Hansbrough expressed her shock, saying, “didn’t expect to get terminated, maybe a reprimand or a suspension. I just got tired of seeing things get out the door. I just, I lost it. I basically lost all the training. Everything they tell you to do, I just…I just lost it.”
Hansbrough began her career at Lowe’s as a cashier and was later promoted to live-nursery specialist, showcasing her extensive experience in the field. However, she most recently worked as a customer service associate in the plans department before she was abruptly terminated.
Despite the traumatic incident, Hansbrough remains resilient and determined to find a new job. She asserted, “I can’t sit at home. I’m not that type of person,” and expressed her willingness to testify if law enforcement requires her cooperation.
Though she is still in the process of recovering from her injuries, there has been a decrease in the swelling around her eye since the incident occurred.
Had always thought that retail locations could be forgiven for taking portrait pictures of these individuals during their shoplifting shenanigans and posting those images near the door for the benefit of the shopping public, and in employee breakrooms, under the title “Not Welcome Here”.
Just another example of unrealistic organizational policy and practice that directly drains actual daily life of seemingly every last ounce of masculinity.
Mojo-ridden Austin Powers is rolling over in his box office grave.
So everything at Lowe’s is free now start the truck Andy.
Only if you have a high melanin count.................
How much would the comp be vs. the increasing amount of loss from this seemingly dumb corporate policy?
Except that day for sure...
Mr. GG2 has a Lowes Pro account that he uses for the rehab of our house and working on our rural compound. If Lowes wants to let the 13% rob them blind OK by us. I feel sorry for that poor lady but she’s lucky those three thugs didn’t kill her.
Yeah your right about that
Yeah your right about that
Effing savages.
I’ve personally watched em go into a Lowes, take a shopping cart and go to the ladder section. Then, take a ladder, go to the electrical section and use the ladder to get up high to where full cartons are stored, load two carts chock full of panels, breakers, outlets, Romex, etc. and just walk out the door with it... NOT one single solitary soul, including myself, was gonna interfere with their “reparations”.
It’s unsustainable.
*************
Consumers, employees, and stockholders are suffering because company managements find it easier on them and and less risky legally to let thieves walk out the door. Stores are closing. A legislative fix is needed. Ignore the libertarian objections....”
Something needs to done that’s for sure.
The day I witnessed this happening, I was conceal carrying a G19 with an extra mag. I could have very easily wasted all three of these thieving feral POSs right then and there, but there was no physical threat to me or anyone else...no legal justification for me to do so. Besides, if the store mgmt itself won’t stand up for what’s needed to be done, I’m sure as heck not gonna jeopardize myself in their defense.
OTOH, if I was personally being assaulted/robbed by this feral trash, it would be totally different story....being a small town boy and all. /s
I like the way you think!

UPDATE: She’s supposedly $25,000 richer since 2 days ago

They just hired her back I guess. I did not expect that, good for them.
FReegards
She probably helped Loews out by not lashing out when she was fired. Wow...pure class.
Dollars to donuts she donates it to a worthy charity.
I complained at Home Depot years ago that almost every person leaving the store was activating the door alarms. And I wanted to know if I was the only person paying for the things I was walking out with.
I quit shopping there for a long time. I’m sick of paying higher prices so these idiots can incentivize criminals.
