Our favorite Freeper entertainer? I don't know. Maybe we'll have a poll some day. He's certainly up there - and for good reason.

Jimmy Webb did a great job writing many of his biggest hits.

He’s featured in a documentary about The Wrecking Crew. The studios musicians who backed up an incredible number of popular artists in the 1960s and 70s. I think it’s on Prime.

Glen was playing/picking a 12 string in that Hee Haw video. Both of them would be on my Mt. Rushmore of guitar players.

If anyone hasn’t seen this documentary, watch it. Watch it now.

A most amazing and touching account of Glen Campbell as he is in the final months of Alzheimers.
He couldn’t even remember his kid’s names. Didn’t know where he was.
But he could still play the guitar.
Producers were criticized for exploiting a poor old man with advanced Alzheimer’s by having him on stage in his condition.
Others (myself included) agree that this was a blessing for him. While there was nothing else he could do, he could still sing and play “Galveston” or other hits he had. And oh, that made him happy.

Campbell told the audience at a concert I attended that Wichita Lineman was then the most played song on American media, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.

It took a lot if work & money to finish that film- the rights for the songs was the issue. IIRC, millions of dollars.

He also played the bagpipes. Just recently watched a compilation of live performances on tubi of him. He did versions of Mull of Kintyre and Amazing Grace that were very impressive.

Many people don’t know that Glen Campbell played for a while with the Beach Boys, replacing Brian Wilson when he was in rehab.

I watched Campbell, live, play and dance to the William Tell Overture --with the guitar resting on the back of his neck. He was a virtuoso. As far as guitarists go, it's Atkins, Clark and Campbell for me.
