Without any warning, Flickr.com suddenly eliminates entire account, without requested specific explanation, or offer of recovery.

Without any prior warning or specific explanation afterward - despite attempts for any - about 3 weeks ago flickr.com (owned by SmugMug and headquartered in San Francisco, California suddenly eliminated my entire account, with no option to recover images.

There was nothing even close to porn, or violence, racism, vulgarity, profanity... among my pics, or known violations of copyrighted material (that would not qualify as "fair use"), and  I mostly used Flickr for my garden photos.

But the purgation occurred after I had uploaded images (for back up) from the CDC on HIV and STD stats, as seen in this blog post. https://peacebyjesuscom.blogspot.com/2019/10/negative-effects-of-homosexual.html

Images (and extras) themselves can presently be accessed here: https://www.peacebyjesus.net/nehr/

After contacting help@flickr.com and providing their requested verification, their reply simply was,

This account was terminated for Terms of Use and Community Guideline violations and will not be restored.

You are no longer permitted to possess a Flickr account, nor access or use SmugMug services, which includes SmugMug.com as well as Flickr.com.

Attempts to create new accounts on either of these services will be deleted as well.

We’re not at liberty to discuss the specifics of accounts closed for violations, but please see https://www.flickr.com/help/terms and https://www.flickr.com/help/guidelines for more information.

Which terms of use, as is much the norm in TOU conditions, uses such subjectively-defined ambiguous terms (such as, "User Content that is...hateful, ...inflammatory,...or otherwise objectionable or harmful") that they could justify nuking most anything.

No, it sounds more like they needed their company to function as a source of income. That is they capitalism works.

Never trust anyone else with you data. If you want it, store it yourself. I utilize no online storage, and never will.

I understand, and do not think I lost anything of real value my own, which most of it was, and the loss is that of keeping it available on web pages as FR which had images linked to them. But I should have made it clearer that the purpose of my post was not that of losing my own data but that of providing another example of wanton liberal censorship, thus further exampling how it is not to be trusted, while seeking sources that can be. I use https://postimg.cc/ for now, since it is simple and well suited for posting images on FR such as for the garden thread, though .cc means Chinese, and its TOU forbids images for advocacy against any individual, group, or organization.

Which could even apply to advocacy against a sports team.

I left Flicker several years ago because they were trending toward censorship. It is very easy to despise companies like that. The "postimg" reference is actually appreciated. Thanks.

Our society seems to be collapsing on all sides.

I'm surprised Free Republic doesn't host images displayed in on this site.

It might be for you.. NOT for me. I will AVOID THEM and anyone else who tells me they CANNOT provide their service to me UNLESS I jump through their specified hoop.

To each his own!

I suppose if you read the rest of the thread that you might have noticed that I quit using them about ten years ago. My general theme here is: Don’t put anything you want to keep on anyone else’s storage.

And if you read my response I could care less what you do... I was simply stating my feelings and attitudes about DOGMATIC services and their dictates.

Just so you know.. "I get it", where you're coming from. Now you "get it" as to where I'm coming from!

I was able to get my ideas across without using bold font or a nasty disposition.

YOU ARE WELOME

You must make those hour long TV documentaries that contain five minutes of information repeated often enough to fill out the hour.

Exactly. I have a 500 gig passport drive I keep all my important stuff on. No cloud storage here. Photobucket keeps sending me emails about upgrading or lose it. Don’t care. I’d rather be in control.

Now who's being SNARKY?

And YES.. I've produced many a documentary and television shows, some of which have won awards.

How about you? my question gives you the legitimate opportunity to respond.. which I KNOW you cannot resist.

Even a 1TB portable hard-drive has become so cheap that it's cheaper than even a free service provides, because sooner or later it won't be free anymore

The one linked to is a Seagate 1 TB external hard drive for 49.49. If that is out of your budget, then 2-pack 0f 128GB thumb drives are only 10.97 for the pair totaling 256 GB.

Post some links, I’d love to see them. (Not being snarky but civilized for a moment)

Daniel1212, I am sorry to hear this has happened.

If you had items not saved off, you might be able to retrieve them from the Internet Archive site, if you have the URL for your area.
