Weeds die 80X faster than humans? Wow. We’ll have to remember that next time we’re in Cash Cab for trivia questions...

Seems like a commercial. Also, they are not killing any but the smallest weeds. A normal dandelion would live through that laser shot.

I don’t like this at all. Sounds like a Star Trek V’ger scenario: Robot is programmed to use laser to destroy all useless life forms, and then…

In the growing season, weeds are sprouting continuously. This is especially so after every rain. Part of conventional weed control strategy is to spray a herbicide after the crop reaches enough height to cover or shade the ground below so the crop can gain an upper hand over newly sprouting weeds. It doesn’t appear the laser is much good but for that first pass in newly planted fields.

Getting rid of pesky life forms with death rays is old news. Already figured out.

Next ... a slimmed down residential version for getting rid of weeds in your yard. Robbie the robot will eventually be able to handle most yard work chores.

The way those weeds catch fire makes me worry about wildfires that could be sparked that way.
The sight of that bare dirt makes my skin crawl. It does NOT look healthy!

I have been playing with lasers since the 70s, and I swear that looks like a giant helium neon tube, even though I cant think of a single reason why is should be.
A great way to reduce pesticides.
I am guessing in the future it could easily target insects, snails and all kinds of little furry creatures.

Now, in the case of Mr. Weed...

his rate is probably the mean of the two groups (weeds and people). (And I don't mean Mr. Mean.)
