A UK man on vacation with his family in Jamaica died after attempting to partake in a challenge that involved drinking all 21 cocktails featured on a bar’s menu.
Timothy Southern had finished 12 of the menu’s various cocktails when he returned to his hotel room at the Royal Decameron Club Caribbean in Saint Ann, where he later died, ITV News reported.
A pathologist in Kingston said the 53-year-old Staffordshire man’s cause of death was “acute gastroenteritis due to alcohol consumption.” Staffordshire-area coroner Emma Serrano ruled his death was alcohol-related, the outlet reported.

The menu was changed to do not try more than 11.
I can’t blame the guy for trying, but he should have stayed 3 weeks and had one each day.

Usually, these deaths happen to much younger people.
He was old enough to know better.
Is it possible he had little drinking experience?
If he were American the family would have been contacted by an ambulance chaser to sue the resort for serving him so many drinks.
Perhaps he could have tried the local Marijuana instead.
There was a story about a guy who paid a good amount to travel to a Grateful Dead concert in Jamaica. He smoked so much of the local product, he passed out and missed the concert; but at least he is still alive.

In most other places, voluntarily doing stupid crap is the fault of the person doing stupid crap.
Hurting yourself, while doing stupid crap, is generally considered the fault of the do-er.
Not the place where it was done.
A long time ago. before the lawyers took over, the US generally faulted the do-er of stupid stuff. not the venue. Or, society as a whole.

The only suits between Americans and foreigners I’ve followed involved trade disputes. America gets taken to court, usually because the other side claims we’re subsidizing our products which is anti-competitive. I can’t recall any suits that the US won. Of course, it does seem we subsidize a lot of products, especially farm products and aircraft. My guess is an American suing in Jamaca will not win. Also, even if they did win, they wouldn’t get enough to make it worthwhile. Likely a Jamaican jury would say, “The mon be an idiot. He deserve to die.”
