FDA approves over-the-counter sales of topical gel Eroxon for erectile dysfunction

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved over-the-counter marketing for Eroxon, as a first-of-its-kind topical gel for erectile dysfunction.

Men with erectile dysfunction will now have the option of using a topical gel to treat the condition.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved over-the-counter marketing for the product, called Eroxon, as a first-of-its-kind medical product. The British pharmaceutical firm Futura Medical makes the gel.

"FDA set a very high standard in evaluating the effectiveness and safety of De Novo Medical Devices. I am delighted that we met this standard," Futura CEO James Barder said in a news release on Monday.

About 30 million American men are affected by erectile dysfunction, where they're not able to get or keep an erection for sexual activity.

This new gel will be sold in a single-dose tube, CNN reported.

It should be applied to the head of the penis before sex. Users may be able to become erect within 10 minutes and maintain that for long enough to have sex in about 65% of those who use it, according to the company.

The product is already sold in Belgium and the United Kingdom, where it costs the equivalent of $31.22 in U.S. dollars for a four-pack, CNN reported.

"We don't have specific pricing details yet, as the pricing will ultimately be determined by the partner who launches Eroxon in the U.S.," a company spokesman told CNN.

The timeline for when the product will be in the United States is unknown but it could be 2025, CNN reported.

Diseases such as Type 2 diabetes can contribute to erectile dysfunction, as can certain medications, anxiety disorders, smoking, drinking excessive alcohol, being overweight or using illegal drugs.

And yet....

--- Like all medications, Eroxon does have some potential side effects. The most common side effects are mild and include headaches, dizziness, and flushing. However, because Eroxon is a topical gel, it does not have the same risks associated with oral medications or injections, such as priapism (a painful, prolonged erection) or systemic effects. Additionally, because Eroxon is applied directly to the penis, the medication is less likely to interact with other medications a man may be taking. However, Eroxon is a new medication, more research is needed to fully understand its safety and efficacy.

--- RED FLAG: 95% of cases of ED are because your cardiovascular system isn't working properly. ED is a huge RED FLAG about the state of a man’s cardiovascular health. So, while EROXON or even VIAGRA both work on treating the symptoms (inability to sustain an erection) they don't deal with the root CAUSE of the problem which continues to worsen.

Most Republicans in Congress could use some.

Does it work on spines too? 😂

So too, often due to nerve damage or impairment.

FYI- Bicyle seats are a weenie killer. Can crush the arteries feedin’ the “region”.

Hey, guy. The "95%" statement was also from the prolongevity article. Not my view.

My view is keep busy, work hard and laugh a lot. Finished a 55' six-foot high fence last week with Western cedar pickets and steel posts. Saved the labor costs, which is not pocket change for an old fart. My wife's happy. I'm happy. We haven't any bicycles. Confession: I do sit on my arse when typing comments to post articles. Seems to be better than standing. :) Happy Tuesday to you.

It’s really hard to get FDA approval for this sort of stuff - the rules are rigid and the penalties stiff.

Or something closer to your handle, with the letters 'er' added somewhere in the middle...
