Ready for Socialized Electric Power?
American Thinker ^ | 9 Jun, 2023 | Warren Beatty

Things will get hairy when the socialist commissars running your state get to determine whether you run the air-conditioning in the summer.

Ever hear of the Build Public Renewables Act (BPRA)? Sounds great, doesn't it? Yet, like "The Inflation Reduction Act" (the largest climate legislation in government history), its title has very little to do with its actual purpose. Its true objective is to empower the state (in this case New York) "to provide clean energy if the private sector fails to."

Still sounds great! There is, however, one little catch: the private sector has until 2030 to provide clean energy. We all know that, given today's technology, the private sector isn't going to meet this requirement — which means that the second little catch will kick in: the moving of power utilities out of private hands into publicly owned facilities. In fact, BPRA, now in the New York state budget, is viewed as a massive challenge to fossil fuel hegemony and a major victory for public power. The BPRA requires and empowers the New York Power Authority (NYPA) "to rapidly build renewable energy infrastructure to meet the goal of 100 percent clean energy by 2030."

Except for the 100% clean energy part, still sounds pretty good. But here's where the act begins to cause concern. The BPRA is laying the foundation for a socialized electrical grid. This from the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) themselves. "A socialist strategy would put unions, industrial expertise, and clean energy writ large at the center of the bill," begins this article. "New York is moving closer to public ownership and operation of renewable power," says this article.

Shortages and rationing are not a bug with communism, they are features.

Seems like socialized toilet paper, socialized pencil allotment, and socialized condemn distribution would come up sooner or later under this way of thinking.

By now, almost everybody reading this has a “smart meter” measuring their power consumption. In most cases, they never told you they were doing it beyond some happy-talk promotions flyers months in advance. They just showed up one day, and swapped out your old meter for a nice new smart digital one. Done.

Ever notice the meter-reader guy never — never — actually reads your meter anymore?

That’s because within the “smartness” is remote digital reporting capability. There’s also an ON / OFF remote switch in the thing as well.

“HEAT and ELECTRICITY....”

There may not be much for them to control by 2030 ...

I know if I had an interest in one of those utilities , I would be slurping every penny out as fast as I could ...

maintenance ?... haha ... I wouldn't even replace a light bulb in the office when it went out.
new line? ... dream on .. I would be pulling lines and selling copper.
R+D ... can't do that after I sell all that equipment.
New hires .... I would have 1 employee the day before they took over ... his one last job would be to
blow out the candle.

... just saying ...

That is the governments goal...to own all the utilities. People have already proposed it in my area of Upstate NY. We’re talking RG&E here. They’re putting in smart meters which can be regulated by the utility.

Socialized electric power sounds as if your kWh rate is dependent on your income or assets.

“....his one last job would be to
blow out the candle.”

Which is also the last job for the final conservative leaving California. The democrats plan is to light their way with fairy dust and unicorn droppings so they will not even need the candles. “Blow out the candles, the party’s over” can be the primary lyrics to California’s swan song!

What happens in California should stay in California…
“The new income-based electricity bills could hit residents’ mailboxes as soon as 2025. Based on proposals currently under consideration, residents who make more than $180,000 a year could pay about $500 more annually on their electricity bills, while Californians who make less than $28,000 annually could save up to $300 a year. The law is part of the state’s answer of how to equitably transition away from carbon as an energy source.”

” fairy dust and unicorn droppings”

your saying we have found a solution to this ..

“Fearing ‘climate change,’ Ireland moves to kill the cows”

The Irish farmers need to swap over to raising unicorns and catching fairies.
I think California would be a better place for catching the farries.
But unicorns can be grown anywhere ... right.

On topic ... so we can all look forward to sitting in the dark starving.
That’s some plan to save the planet.

Perhaps race? Gender? Political party registration?

Shortages and rationing will be blamed on Global Warming — their pretext for Communist control.

The only problem with the socialist s hole states making these laws is that the socialist a holes who support these laws move to conservative states and start the process over again.
