Rocco DiPippo: "Your conclusions are utterly incorrect.
I simply have no time or desire to engage you any further."

Right, because you are propagandist and not paid to deal with facts or reason, only to spew whatever gawdawful nonsense they tell you to, right?

Now compare the overall civilian populations and military sizes of Russia and Ukraine between 2/24/22 and now.

The stated goal of Putin for Russia’s “special military operation” was “demilitarization and denazification” of Ukraine.

CapandBall: "Now compare the overall civilian populations and military sizes of Russia and Ukraine between 2/24/22 and now."

In 2021, with our debacle in Afghanistan fresh in memory, every western expert I heard who contemplated war between Russia and Ukraine expected Russia to roll over Ukrainians in a matter of weeks, if not days.
Russians were considered vastly superior in every military respect -- around three times the population, maybe ten times the GDP, a massive, technologically advanced military-industrial base, and with potential support from the CCP, unlimited access to materials of war.

And yet... and yet... somehow, some way, Ukrainians stood their ground and fought off the best that Vlad the Invader could throw at them.
And since then Ukrainians have liberated nearly half of the Ukrainian territories originally conquered by Vlad the Invader.

CapandBall: "The stated goal of Putin for Russia’s “special military operation” was “demilitarization and denazification” of Ukraine."

Here are the reasons Vlad the Invader has given for his 2022 "special military operations":

  1. NATO eastward expansion (there was none since 2014)

  2. Genocide by "Nazis" against Russians in Ukraine (absurd)

  3. Ukraine is not a real country (Ukraine was formally recognized by Russia many times since 1990)

  4. Ukraine might have nuclear weapons (there's no evidence of that)

  5. Russians want to rebuild the old Soviet/Tsarist Empire, to include Eastern European countries (then Vlad's Invasion must be defeated)
There is no rational argument, no sane reasons justifying Vlad the Invader's "special military operations" in 2014 or since 2022.
It's total madness and as now appears, it will not end well for Putin or Russia.

“it will not end well for Putin or Russia.”

It will not end well because in the end justice prevails, sometimes it may take long time. But in the end justice prevails.

10-14 million civilians have left Ukraine since 2/24/22. A third went to Russia, and 2/3rds to EU countries. Most are unlikely to ever return.

Ukrainian’s military has been hollowed out, and going forward the country will suffer from a demographic collapse of military aged men.

The west has selective amnesia about it’s recognition of Ukrainians past NeoNazi problem, they do persist even if the media ignores it.

Russia doesn’t need to take any more land to get Ukraine to expend more troops against fortified positions, Bakhmut has demonstrated that.

Overall then, Russia had been largely successful with demilitarization, and by extension denazification.

I think Ukraine will capitulate by end of summer, sooner if they overextend in their expected pending counteroffensive. Western Tanks, F-16s, Cruise Missiles, etc. won’t help; they just don’t have the man power anymore (not that they ever really did).

CapandBall: "10-14 million civilians have left Ukraine since 2/24/22.
A third went to Russia, and 2/3rds to EU countries.
Most are unlikely to ever return."

The U.N. estimate is in the 8 million total range, of which around 3 million went to Russia, the rest to western countries.

The current population is put around 37 million.
90% of refugees are women & children which means they can return when peace is restored.

CapandBall: "Ukrainian’s military has been hollowed out, and going forward the country will suffer from a demographic collapse of military aged men."

The US estimates Ukrainian military casualties so far at 150,000 including 20,000 killed in action, plus another 43,000 civilians killed.
The US estimates Russian losses as 230,000 including 50,000 killed in action.

Ukraine's military age male population is in the 10 million range, to which could be added some millions of young women.
Ukraine's armed forces are thought to now total around one million men & women.

Morale among Ukrainian troops and civilians is said to be much higher than among Russian invaders.

CapandBall: "The west has selective amnesia about it’s recognition of Ukrainians past NeoNazi problem, they do persist even if the media ignores it."

100% of Russian propaganda regarding alleged Ukrainian "Nazis" is complete and utter insanity, lies of monstrous proportions, utterly devoid of contact with actual facts.
Indeed, it is the exact equivalent of our own Leftist Lunatics name-calling anybody who disagrees with them on anything as "racists", "bigots", "Nazis", you name it, they are utterly meaningless words used to shut down more serious discussions.

So, in Russian propaganda terms, "Nazis" are simply anybody opposed to Russian hegemony.
In reality, the word "Nazi" is defined as anti-Semitic national socialists.

  1. "Socialists" -- Ukraine is officially a socialist country, sort of: "Article 1 of the Constitution defines Ukraine a sovereign, independent, social (welfare) state.".

  2. "Nationalists" -- the whole Orange Revolution was about putting Ukraine first, and the Euro Maidan Revolt was about closer economic ties to the European Union.
Ukrainians want to be independent from Russia and more closely aligned with Europe.

  3. "Anti-Semitic" -- according to census reports, the Jewish population in Ukraine has been growing rapidly and is now around one half of one percent of Ukrainians, though what's very likely is that more Ukrainians today are willing to identify themselves as Jewish than were in past times.
Meaning, whatever past anti-Semitism existed is today perceived by Jews as less than it was.
CapandBall: "Russia doesn’t need to take any more land to get Ukraine to expend more troops against fortified positions, Bakhmut has demonstrated that."

The US estimates Russian casualties in their nine-month long assault on Bakhmut as over 100,000 including 20,000 killed in action.
NATO estimates Ukrainian casualties defending Bakhmut as around 20,000 total, including 4,000 killed in action.
Russian casualties mean they have lost around 1,000 men for every square mile of Bakhmut they took.

CapandBall: "Overall then, Russia had been largely successful with demilitarization, and by extension denazification."

Overall, Russians have accomplished nothing in Ukraine except the murders of tens of thousands and the accumulation of war-reparations debts now in the range of half a trillion dollars.

The Russian people will be generations paying off their debts for this orgy of violence they unleashed in Ukraine.
It's totally insane, and cannot end well for Russia.

This is the part of the conversation where I say your numbers are wrong & from a bias source and mine are not, so I’ll just skip that; we will both believe what we want to believe.

Ultimately, time will tell who wins and loses. The “winner” won’t be paying reparation, Russia will do the rebuilding on whatever land it controls when it’s all said and done.

The Ukrainian neo-Nazi thing can’t be avoided though, and despite a lot of Internet scrubbing, plenty remains (I’ve intentionally selected mostly left-leaning sites).

CapandBall: "This is the part of the conversation where I say your numbers are wrong & from a bias source and mine are not, so I’ll just skip that; we will both believe what we want to believe."

I have no doubt that all the numbers are wrong, to some degree, and so I picked the estimates which seemed more likely to be closer to actual -- US or UN estimates when available.

CapandBall: "The Ukrainian neo-Nazi thing can’t be avoided though, and despite a lot of Internet scrubbing, plenty remains (I’ve intentionally selected mostly left-leaning sites)."

When you use the words "Ukrainian neo-Nazis" you tell the whole world, "I, CapandBall, am a babbling lunatic who has no clue what I mean, just parroting whatever drivel my masters in Moscow tell me to say."

In 2019 Ukrainians elected a Jewish president and a Jewish prime minister.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy won in a runoff with 73% of the popular vote.
That should tell us all we need to know about alleged "Nazis" in Ukraine.

Today Zelenskyy leads Ukraine in its existential struggle against the real modern-day Nazi-equivalents, Vlad the Invader and his army of orcs.

I don’t know what to tell you, but I understand why you are so confused. Additionally the German Nazis of 80 years ago considered all Slavic people to be untermench (sub-human) to be exterminated, just like the Jews. Russian and Ukrainian people are of course Slavic, so none of it makes sense through that lens. Maybe that’s why they call them NeoNazi (“new” nazi).

Putin’s “denazification” goal addresses minority ethnic persecution: that the minority ethnic Russians are persecuted by the majority ethnic Ukrainians.

I am not in the least confused, but you are very obviously befuddled by some insane Russian propaganda, equating Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Ukrainian patriots to 1940s era Nazis.
Oh? Do you think you can get away with calling them "neo-Nazis" since that word "neo-Nazi" can be twisted to mean whatever you want it to mean?
Equivalent to saying, "I don't like your looks, so you're a neo-Nazi!"
It's rubbish and all it really means -- the claim that ethnic Russians were being violently persecuted -- that is an utter lie because before the EuroMaidan Revolt in 2014, Russians ruled over Ukraine in the form of their stooge & traitor Victor Yanukovych.
Russian rule only ended when they committed treason and began waging war on their own country -- on Ukraine, not Russia.

"Nazi-ism" in any form had nothing to do with it, except this: the excuse Vlad the Invader used for Russian invasion of Ukraine was exactly the same excuse Adolf Hitler used to invade Austria, Czechoslovakia and other Eastern European countries -- Hitler invaded, he claimed, to protect ethnic Germans in those countries, just as Vlad the Invader claims to be protecting ethnic Russians.

So, if anybody is a "Nazi", it's Vlad the Invader.

CapanBall: "Putin’s “denazification” goal addresses minority ethnic persecution: that the minority ethnic Russians are persecuted by the majority ethnic Ukrainians."

It's a total lie, Hitlerian in its monstrosity.

CapandBall: "Lol… ok Hillary"

Hillary Clinton is insane, whatever she says is a lie.
When Democrats like Hillary talk about Nazis or Hitler, they mean nothing by it, except: "I don't like your looks, or your words, so you are a Hitler Nazi."

On the other hand, you, CapandBall and your boss, Vlad the Invader, wave your hands around wildly in the direction of Ukraine, bellowing: "Nazis!! Hitler!! Neo-Nazis !! Genocide!!, etc., etc."
It's just as insane and meaningless as Hillary.

But it is a fact of history that Vlad the Invader used exactly the same pretext on Ukraine as Hitler used on Austria, Czechoslovakia and other eastern European countries.
They both claimed to be protecting their own ethnic minorities in those foreign countries.
The only difference is that in some cases, Hitler's claims were objectively more valid than Vlad the Invader's.
