Trump vs. DeSantis 2024
None | 5/13/2023 | Ebshumidors

I’ve been watching the Trump vs. DeSantis showdown here and have a few questions. I voted for Trump twice, worked the phones and poll watched for him and am convinced he was the only one for regular Americans. He had the right policies for us. I have two concerns. He is supposedly a germaphobe and I think that influenced his decisions regarding Covid. He also didn’t have a team behind him. Many stabbed him in the back. How would it be different if he was elected for another term?

Regarding Desantis, I watched some of his Iowa stuff and he seems to say the right things. He may even be to the right of Trump on some issues. He also seems to have a good argument about what he’s done in Florida. He doesn’t have Trump’s suburban housewife baggage (who my wife of 31 yrs asked how many times Trump’s been married - she voted for him and we’re not voting for a Pope) but I’m sure they’ll come up with something to hang on him. I know that many have said that he’s beholden to big donors.

I’m on team fight it out for the nomination, After that, I’m on team how do you fix the rig and how do you win I haven’t heard any of that from anyone.

I live in Florida and would be thrilled if either one knocked off Biden. Look guys, this election is less about Left vs. Right or Gay vs. Straight or Black vs. White than it is about the Authoritarian State vs. All of us. Trump has spoken many times about draining the Swamp. Desantis spoke just today about dismantling the unelected Bureaucracy. With the unlikely outlier of JFK,Jr., there are really only three choices before us: Trump, Desantis, and George Orwell. Failure to elect one of the first two will only ensure that we get the third. We need to stop beating each other up.

I share your concerns.

Trump was an absolute disaster when it came to choosing aides, vice presidents, attornies general, top level assistants, lawyers, trusted advisors and etc.

What’s changed since then? Are we to believe his second term wouldn’t be filled with more of the same assorted morons?

So out of 45 men who’ve been president, there is ONE example. And that’s from the 19th Century.

Or is he more like Adlai Stevenson?

Trump calls everyone names. If he wants to call DeSantis “DeSanctimonius”...oh well. I wish he wouldn’t but that one doesn’t bother me too much. FWIW, Trump says he did not call him the ethnic slur “Meatball” and that he would never call DeSantis that. Some freeper bigots have latched on to “Meatball” and are using it. Actually, that bothers me more than Trump calling him “DeSanctimonius”. Freepers should be better than that.

As the great Morton Blackwell always reminds his people, “Personnel IS policy.” If you choose bad personnel, you’ll wind up with bad policy, or at least horrible execution of your good policies.

Trump has been running around praising Charlie Crist.

If DeSantis goes against Trump and wins the nomination, he will lose the MAGA vote. He may do well with the moderates in the suburbs, but turnout in rural and exurban areas will be weak. All the haranguing by the likes of Sean Hannity, Hugh Hewitt and the rest of Conservatism, Inc., will not move the needle. The days of pawning off the likes of Bob Dole, John McCain, and Mitt Romney to the conservative base are over. Granted, DeSantis’s record is far better than the failed candidates I mentioned, but he will have the taint of the RINO establishment if he chooses to run in 2024.

Why? He’ll lose #Cult45, but #MAGA is bigger than Trump and at some point will have to move forward with out him. DeSantis is the Trumpiest politician not named Trump. He’s as #MAGA as they come, and he has the record to prove it.

He’s been described as “Trump without the tweets.”

I agree with almost all of your points. However, who will Trump bring in to accomplish his agenda?

In the UK they have a whole bunch of little parties. Because they will not unite they get their butts handed to them and no actual reform ever happens.

Just something to think about.

Personally I like Trump and I like DeSantis. Both have a tendency to be a bit over the top but meek and humble gets no where in politics. And they both have done things I approve of and things I disapprove of. So I like either and I will take both.

If you believe that he lost in 2020 due to cheating and the election was stolen while he was the incumbent, how is he, as a non-incumbent, going to stop it this time?

That is the $64,000 question. I'm wondering what good it will do for Trump or DeSantis to be the nominee unless sweeping national election reform is passed by the Swamp Rats. Fat chance of that happening, eh?

And then even if that miracle occurs, we still need radical election reform laws passed in blue states. And we know there is no chance of that happening in the next 18 months.

Biden sat in his basement, selected a bimbo as veep, and ate pudding. Yet he "won". Hell, in 2024 he could very well assume room temperature and still be the winner of another steal.

So. Let's focus on radically changing state and national election laws. Otherwide we are (bleeping) off.

I feel one needs to focus on the things President Trump accomplished for our country DESPITE the backstabbing traitors within his administration and those in the opposition party and in the national media. Meanwhile RD has a very good conservative track record, BUT if you read the recent articles and comments of those who are closely monitoring him and his financial backers he appears to be very much an establishment Republican closely aligned with the Bush people. That, in my view, is not good.

Two things I’ve been telling people for months in regard to the coming election: (1) pay close attention to who it is your enemies are most viciously attacking and VOTE for that person; (2) regardless of what criticisms you may have of your preferred candidate NEVER voice those criticisms BEFORE the election. Anyone who cannot follow those two simple guidelines, whether knowingly or not, is aiding and abetting their enemy.

Donald John Trump has ALL the right enemies.

Ronald Herbert Walker DeSantis has ALL the wrong friends.

Any questions?

There are plenty. There are conservative organizations that have spent decades training good personnel. Trump did find a few of them, but he also appointed way too many Swamp Rats who did not share his agenda.
