A modest proposal to establish gender affirming care and surgery for pets
American Thinker ^ | 3 May, 2023 | Henry Clark

--With apologies to Jonathan Swift--

Given the recent cutting edge advocacy for Gender Affirming Care and Surgery (GACS) for transgenders(sic), including minor children, why not expand this coveted GACS to the pet world, and then to the entire animal kingdom? Starting with pets, this therapy could be expanded to other owned animals (beef cattle, chicken flocks, Budweiser Clydesdales), and then to feral animals in the wild. The main benefit of expanding GACS is the massive new revenue stream to veterinarians, doctors, hospitals, and big pharma.

The number of Americans who dote over pets is enormous. Pet owners spare no expense ensuring their beloved pets are treated like royalty. The number of species that serve as pets is virtually unlimited, including dogs, cats, birds, fish, snakes, pot bellied pigs, and horses.

A plethora of random controlled studies could keep academia focused on this topic for decades. Medical and veterinary school deans would dole out vast sums of taxpayer money to support such studies, including but not limited to the following:

1. Measuring the impact of GACS on different pet species. Is GACS more effective in horses, dogs or fish?

2. Given the connection between mental illness and GACS, what is the effect that there are no participation trophies awarded to the losers in major animal competitions like the Kentucky Derby, The Preakness and the National Dog Show? Could those animals who consistently fail to succeed in such prestigious events benefit from post--loss GACS? How could such trauma be identified to predict the best candidates for GACS from all the losers? What are the true equity issues and unconscious biases in animal sports?

Please don't give them any ideas.

Reminds me of the "vegan dog/cat" thing that people try to push.

First you need to read the book: “How to Stop Raising Rabbits.”

Maybe they can try to create a trans-vegan lion in the wild to reinforce their queer world view...unless their new world view eats them.

some tilapia farms treat their fish with
17α-methyltestosterone to produce all males both for faster growth and uniform sizes at harvest (no babies in the mix)

Of course there is no gene therapy so the females are not really males they only phenotypically appear that way and cannot mate with real males.

Don’t we already change our pets gender when we neuter them?
I was taught in English class that there are three genders: Male, Female, and Neuter. We neuter our male or female pets all the time.

The comment at the site about Caenorhabditis elegans is good, for those who want a politically correct and easy pet...

And for the same reason our government wants to neuter us.

Neutering animals, including human ones, doesn’t change their sex.

And for the same reason our government wants to neuter us.

First through tricks and indoctrination. Next by force.

Well, neither a child or a pet can give permission to cut their genitals off...

Oh for God’s sake. Ah, I mean was destined to happen right? In fact I am sure the near future will have us promoting bestiality.

😂 My puppy just told me that he wants to keep his nuts. He’s ten months old now and 110lbs. You can imagine how high strung he can get. But he has learned to listen to me. I regularly get questioned about why he isn’t fixed. I had considered having him neutered, but with all this trans stuff in the news I’m not going to do it.

I sort of liken this to young human boys being high strung and given drugs to control them. It’s not natural. God made us and animals in a certain way, and when practical animals should remain natural. (Nothing wrong with neutering ranch animals.)

I don’t think that an act intended to protect humans extends to the lower animals - despite what the animal ‘rights’ people say.

We have animal welfare regulations and laws against animal cruelty and abuse for the protection of animals; animals don’t possess legal ‘rights’.
