Holy cow! This is insane!
Things turned ugly very quickly after an Illinois youth wrestling match that saw a wrestler completely suckerpunch and knock out his opponent after getting destroyed in a match. The punch was so vicious that police have even responded with an investigation.
Located in Oak Park, Illinois, Oak Park River Forest High School hosted the “Beat The Streets” tournament April 8, and at one point during the event, Maine West High School’s Hafid Alicea was beaten by SPAR Wrestling Academy’s Cooper Corder. And not only did Alicea take a loss, he was absolutely hammered — evident of the 14-2 final match score.
After the contest, the referee brought both of the wrestlers to the center of the mat to shake hands and announce Corder as the winner, which is custom in wrestling.
However, things went horribly wrong, as Alicea acted like he was going to shake Corder’s hand, but instead punched him hard right in the face and sent him down to the floor.
Parents were absolutely livid at Alicea, screaming in his direction before ultimately running over to assist Corder. The referee, making sure nothing escalated between parents and students, sent Alicea matside away from the scene.
Corder reportedly suffered a broken nose, according to TMZ Sports, and unfortunately will be forced to wear a special face mask when he wrestles in upcoming matches.
Talking with TMZ Sports, an Oak Park Police Dept. spokesperson said Tuesday that the parents of both minors are cooperating with their investigation.
Absolutely wild.
File criminal charges yourself. Don’t wait for the cops to do it.
Demand an arrest warrant.

Absolutely criminal, and this person should be expelled and never be allowed to compete again until a full and contrite apology is offered and whatever criminal penalties have been fulfilled.
I hear that there’s “wrestling” in prison ...
Wonder if the little bustard has access to guns?
No holds barred...................😉
And it gives a whole new meaning to being “pinned”.
Hafid was just channeling Travolta in the Grease gym wrestling scene.
In my Karate class we were taught that during competition if we were about to lose our coach said to just hall off and punch your opponent then leave the match. It could be his coach, Or not.
Muslim?
Good bet......................
“The punch was so vicious that police have even responded with an investigation.”
How vicious does it have to be? And there may not be a need for an expensive time consuming investigation when they have it on tape.
He did the crime, he should do the time. This is what happens when our, so called, role models in professional sports are “hyped” for criminal actions on and off the surface. It becomes campy and youth are expected to emulate them. And this is why police that are within the juvenile system should push the issue of criminality in amateur sports. They’ll go nuts about drugs but a kid breaking someone’s nose, jaw, or ruining their vision for life is just a small crime? Tell that to the kid in a few years when his vision keeps him from doing jobs that require them to be perfect at 20/20 or the kid goes into surgery for repair and it can’t be fixed and he gets to face surgery but he’ll have that problem for life.

No ears were eaten.
...and whether or not he serves time, have him thrown out of school. Can't have someone who committed felony assault walking the hallways.
The muslim kid is no doubt a reflection of his parent(s) attitude in life.
This AH should be charged assault.
Absolutely predictable. You cannot take the animal out of some groups.
Maybe not “destroyed” but now the winner AND the loser are sore.
I met Kermit Washington at a restaurant and bar he owned about 30 years ago. Did not ask about his punch. He seemed to be a very polite and gentle guy and a very good conversationalist. That said, he was a really big guy.
From what I have read, he thought Rudy T. was coming after him for a fight.
The word “destroyed” should be annihilated!
Humiliated probably because (I know many don’t know this), amateur-style wrestling is big in many Muslim countries, and felt dishonered for losing to an American.
