Republicans who have pushed back on the boycott of Bud Light are facing backlash from fellow conservatives.
Perhaps the most high-profile name drawn into the controversy is Donald Trump Jr., who recently called for an end to the Bud Light boycott. But a prominent GOP committee is also being criticized by right-wing figures for backing off its attacks on Bud Light.
The calls for a boycott of Bud Light and its parent company Anheuser-Busch began soon after it was revealed that Bud Light had a partnership with transgender influencer and activist Dylan Mulvaney. The news resulted in many conservatives announcing they were switching beer brands while right-wing stars like rap-rock musician Kid Rock and country singer Travis Tritt denounced Anheuser-Busch.
Donald Trump Jr., however, defended the beverage company during a recent episode of his Triggered podcast, saying Anheuser-Busch was a large donor to GOP political campaigns and should not be subjected to a boycott.
"The company itself doesn't participate in the same leftist nonsense as the other big conglomerates," he said on Triggered. "Frankly, they don't participate in the same woke garbage that other people in the beer industry actually do, who are significantly worse offenders when I looked into it. But if they do this again, then it's on them!"
Trump's comments received some negative attention from right-wing figures like Ned Ryun, CEO of the conservative organization American Majority.

We needn't get the reporting wrong...listen to Ms Heinerscheid's own words focused on Bud Light's "more resonant and meaningful" Super Bowl commercial
25:11..."Yeah! I....I think number one...you know...I'm a businesswoman...I had a really clear job to do, when I took over Bud Light. And....it was...this brand is in decline, it's been in decline for a really long time. And if we do not attract...young drinkers, to come and drink this brand, there will be no future for Bud Light. So I had this super clear mandate. Like, we need to evolve and elevate, this incredibly iconic brand. And...my...what I brought to that, was a belief in...ok, what does "evolve and elevate" mean? It's means INCLUSIVTY. It means shifting the tone. It means having a campaign that's truly inclusive and feels lighter and brighter and different and appeals to women and to men. And representation is at sort of at the heart of evolution. You've got see people who reflect you, in the work. We had this hangover...I mean...Bud Light had been...kind of a brand of...fratty...kind of out of touch humor...and, it was REALLY important that we had, another approach.
America has been divided from the get go. Even at the founding, about 15-20% of the nation were Loyalists. Thus there has ALWAYS been an irritated minority of wankers, yammering on and on. So be it.
Post-pandemic and 2020, The Wankers feel emboldened. They WANT to erase culture and replace it with antiseptic Eurotrash fakery. Their problem, however, is they STILL can't change the underlying hearts and minds.
Hence, the theatrical approach currently employed by Loyalists 2.0. To wit: Their approach to dealing with an ingrained individualist history where the 2nd Amendment is an 11th Commandment, is to erase it via the news, TV, schools, and social media. They're trying to soften rugged individualism with Andy Hepburn on a beer can.
The boycotts annoy them, because it is pick 6 defense. It is fighting fire with fire - theater with theater. Maybe boycotts don't work, but while they sniff at Kid Rock, they've turned Bud Light into Kryptonite for Normal People.
But it's still defense.
The BIG question is, What is the campaign would WE run to sell bad beer to folks under 35? Because Bud Light is left vs right in a nutshell. We should have destroyed the Dems in the midterms, and we barely took the House. It's not enough to say "we aren't Bidet or Merrick Garland or Pelosi, and we're not weird."
Similarly, it's not enough to say "we think this Dylan guy is off." We can't win the game with pick 6 defense. We need OFFENSE.
We need messaging that invigorates, leads, and captivates people. We should be taking the lead - the stories should be about bold, rugged individualistic advertising campaigns celebrating American exceptionalism, with the MSNBC crowd whining.
Until then, a guy in a dress on a beer can is a sign that the left is driving the truck, and keeping us on defense. Stand FOR something
If planned parenthood were their largest donor, would he say the same?
Newsweek.
LOL
A boycott is not censorship. The fact that Trump Jr finds defending against the boycott against Bud Light more precious to him than all the government-sponsored disappearing of conservatives screams volumes that he is a profoundly evil man. Trump Jr is not Trump; he is not the president. But the president is also an absolutely terrible judge of character, so finding out one of his inner circle who is NOT a criminal is ALSO evil... well, that ain’t good folks.
The GOPe want all social issues in the rear view mirror ASAP. That’s why they always surrender to Marxists in these fights.
saying Anheuser-Busch was a large donor to GOP political campaigns and should not be subjected to a boycott.
All about the cash. Nothing more.
I’m sorry for the hourly employees that will soon be getting let go due to budget cuts. Maybe they can band together, but up as much stock as they can, take it over and get the company back on track.
Amazing how a very, very small but loud group of people have been allowed to hijack our country.
I would have to question the judgement of anyone drinking Bud Light BEFORE all of this stuff. It was swill water before it became trans-beer.
This was a topic of discussion this past weekend. At a gathering, I asked all of the “men” what would happen if they showed up at a playoff game watch party with BL. To a person, they said their friends would give them grief.
No one took any of this seriously…because they weren’t high school kids drinking swill water.
He got paid. Simple as that.
She says, “I had a really clear job to do, when I took over Bud Light. And....it was...this brand is in decline, it’s been in decline for a really long time....” I believe a look at ABs stock price and its dividend over the last year or so would not prove that out.
Budweiser - the Queer of Beers.
Wrong. Not only is it NOT tearing Republicans apart, but also it is drawing some RATs to the right. Those on the left who agree with the trans crap are NOT the majority of them. The bubble woke companies live in is pathetic.
The issue is bigger than Don Jr. Much bigger.
I was at Walmart yesterday, and strolled past the beer aisle. Bud and Bud Light were fully stocked, in fact all the AB brands that are sold there are stocked. Everything else was depleted or very picked over. Consumers are getting the message and siding with the boycott.
I’m not sure why Don Jr opened his mouth on this, but just like BL’s executives did, being open about his/their objectives is very telling. Donor money is important to Don. “Inclusivity” is important to AB.
We can live without both.
Fail.
Any executive using "Like" in this fashion invalidates nearly everything they might have to say.
Affirmative Action hire.
“Donald Trump Jr., ... saying Anheuser-Busch was a large donor to GOP political campaigns “
He should know that large donors to GOP also are large donors to RAT. His father did it; they all do.
We’re just doing what Alinsky suggested in picking, freezing, polarizing a target. “Personalizing” is included but we haven’t done that yet. We should. “Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.”
We haven’t gone far enough.
I'll wager they give just as much, and maybe more, to the dimocraps...
BTTT
Yea Newsweak is trying to help the GOP again.
The GOP leadership sits there waiting for $$$.
The base has moved on.
The Bush Family rule: “Attacking your base is not a winning strategy”
Stay away from this Trump, this is not a fight worth fighting. They did it to themselves and do not deserve any special protection for being a big donor.
