The Texas House has taken sides in one of America’s most polarizing debates — whether to continue changing clocks twice a year, ditch daylight saving time altogether or stick with later daylight permanently.
The representatives’ overwhelming verdict: Stay on daylight saving time moving forward.
...
The idea is far from becoming reality. Once the bill gets a final House vote, it still has to clear the Senate. And even if signed to law by Gov. Greg Abbott, the measure would still require an OK from Congress.
Federal law lets states exempt themselves from observing daylight saving time — meaning they remain on standard time year-round — if they pass state laws doing so. But states do not have the power to permanently observe daylight saving time, like the Texas House wants, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.

I’m all for permanent daylight savings time.
We are on standard here in AZ (except some Injun reservations) Much better.
How about voting to oust the Travis county DA?
Question:
What enforcement mechanism exists?
Seriously, I don’t get it.
If (let’s say) Arkansas votes to run on the time zone of Tashkent, what can anyone do about it besides shouting “that’s (subjectively) stupid, and you ought not do it”?
Just where in the Constitution is that one of the feds enumerated powers?
Whatever happen ed to states rights?
TX needs to tell congress to go pound sand.
Here’s a possible solution to the problem. Texas needs to declare it’s independence. Might get a few other states to join them. Just let me move there first.
If a business says, we use solar time, how can a state enforce their clocks?
Daylight savings time is stupid
There are so many hours of daylight no matter what time standard one is on. It is a legislative scam that makes those tons feel important
Same buul every year and nothing changes except my money into the pockets of the federal government bureaucrats.
I like the way you think. Seems we have an agreement that this nation has not lived up to. Washington broke any legal ties Texas ever had by not honoring it’s promise to defend and protect our border from this invading, never ending stream of freeloaders. Still, we do nothing. Who would have envisioned this mess would destroy our beloved Texas. They are the enemy. It is a sin against humanity as we endure our enslavement as captives in their scheme. God help us.
I suppose interstate commerce since the time changes could be argued to have a significant effect.
Colorado has already passed this and is waiting for congress
No....we belong on standard time....Go back to where it was before all this bait and switch started...
It doesn’t seem to affect states who do not go on DST...
If official time “moves forward” one hour on the first day of DST every year, then Texas should adjust its government functions back one hour at the same time. Open government offices from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM instead of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, for example.
I’m surprised more people don’t do this on their own. I try to coordinate my own schedule based on the rising of the sun, regardless of what time it is.
Why not be on Standard Time forever? That’s the normal time. With DLST kids will be going to school in Dec. and Jan. in the dark.

Amen! And the Austin mayor! Our capital is becoming an embarrassment with its Woke agenda. Most Texans do not want Austin to like San Francisco. Clean up and clean out is my vote. Make life so miserable for the bums they’ll leave.

God’s time. Don’t mess with it.
