The company is called Byrna, a national group that's been around for about three years.

What if the perp has a real gun?
Yep you have just made a life long acquaintance.
Exactly- they will get their revenge once they heal up
If you feel you’re too clumsy, get a revolver. The trigger pull required would pretty much prevent a negligent discharge.
After looking at the video of how this works, I could see a large bulky coat preventing the chemical from dispersing in a way that would incapacitate. Also, it doesn’t look like something you could practice with so the likelyhood of not being able to operate it properly goes up, and of course there’s always the possibility of incapacitating yourself.
Get a gun, practice, get good at it. There is no alternative.
noone belongs in your house without your permission, and you can safely assume that if anyone is in your home uninvited, they are not there to make friends, and should be dealt with using deadly means because they very likely mean to use deadly means against you- Don’t risk it- learn to use a firearm- take safety classes if you need to-
“The problem with non-lethal weapons is that they don’t kill assailants.”
Exactly! You break in my house, I’m not looking for your bruised and smarting dignity to cause your anger and return.
Bust through my door I’ll send you straight to hell.
One and done.
if all you have is a .22, then yeah- use it (Better to go down fighting than being taken hostage and murdered after the perp gets what they want), but it’s nearly impossible in a tense situation with all hell breaking loose in the dark to get a good shot- A Shotgun with dual ammo (Buck shot and slugs), loaded to the hilt, will be easier to get a shot that stops an attack cold-
Where did you find out about that company?
I’ve seen billboards in California advertising it.
I’m in Texas so I got my CCL; revolvers are easier to use than semiautomatics.
Find out where there’s a good gun range, go sign up for classes, and practice, practice, practice.
How is this different from pellet gun or bb’s?
“Byrna products start at just under $300 and go up to about $500.”
I would not use slugs in a house. Buckshot only. IMO. YMMV.
Years ago, there was a local that tried that with a State Trooper who had pulled him over. It worked well enough that the perp got ahold of his knife, and slashed the trooper’s throat. At that point, the trooper shot him dead.
If you could find one, an old Winnie model 12 in 410 unchambered. Saw it down to 18”. Rack it and the perp will probably flee
Use a 4 wheel pipe cutter to make a groove, then use a sawsall to finish
At the least raise a dog.
God’s Blessings.
Why not get a plastic toy water pistol and carry that if it makes you feel safe?
powered by co2 cartridge ... i’ve yet to see any item powered by one of these where the cartridge doesn’t completely leak out in a few hours ...
Amazon sells small metal “wedges” that slide under a door but emit a very loud sound when “activated” by the door opening. If I’m home alone overnight, in they go.
I would NOT use pepper sprays in my house...good chance it will get on you too.
if you want non lethal. Get a shot gun and load it with non lethal rounds, but make the 3rd round lethal. So if the first two don’t stop him...the 3rd one will.
Are the crooks coming with non-lethal weapons?
If the crooks have no fear of prison, they should have the fear of dying if they break into your home.

Reminds me of the frequent debate, firearms versus pepper spray to counter bear attacks. You may have heard that wearing little bells that tinkle and carrying pepper spray works to keep bears away? Of course one wishes to avoid areas where there are bears so one should look for bear scat. How do you tell if it’s bear scat? Examine the scat for
little bells and light aroma of pepper.
What about home invaders who are really high on drugs? Will they be stopped, or will they keep going?
