n An Easter egg hunt for kids at an Ohio Mall did not go as planned.
The Green Town Center in Beavercreek, Ohio posted a since-deleted apology to Facebook to parents for the crowd-control fiasco at their Easter-egg hunt.
And by crowd control, they mean they could not stop a bunch of adults from swarming the children and grabbing all the eggs.
Our staff dedicated 2 months to preparing for this event, and we had 10 staff members and a softball team of 12 girls volunteer their time yesterday to help run our event everyone was very upset with the outcome of the Egg Hunt, and the way they were treated by community members at the conclusion of the event. We feel that we owe an explanation for the events that took place, and while we are not trying to point fingers or place the blame elsewhere, we want to make everyone aware of the situation. From around 12:30 - 2:00 PM, we began instructing participants on how the event would work - 1 & 2 year olds get to start first in a designated area (the concrete area by the fountains), where they had eggs laid out specifically for them, then 3 & 4 year olds would get 60 seconds with a parent to get a head start, and following that, the hunt would begin for everyone else.
We were unfortunately bombarded with participants that would not follow instructions, and when we began to gather the 1 & 2 year olds to head to their designated hunting area, parents rushed to the grassy area and began picking up eggs from other areas, which prompted all other participants to rush out and begin hunting. This is not at all how we had planned for the event to go, and we are so upset with the outcome and the reactions from participants.
...
"Adults were not permitted to pick up eggs, yet we saw so many doing so, which resulted in some children leaving empty handed. We had over 2,000 eggs hidden, with 100 prizes to give away, and it is a shame that so many still left disappointed. We saw grown adults pushing children out of the way, and people getting knocked over."
Maybe they got confused and thought they were real eggs instead of the little plastic ones?
I mean 2,000 eggs at today's prices is quite a haul!
Seriously though, can you imagine adults acting like this over a children's Easter egg hunt?
It's disgraceful!
Unfortunately for the community, Greene Town Center said they won't be doing an Easter egg hunt again.
"We feel the community will be better without the hunt," Greene assistant manager Jessica Baer said.
This is why we can't have nice things, people.
I have no idea why they would delete that post. It seemed reasonable and their only problem is that they didn't count on how idiotic people have become for a plastic egg full of jelly beans or maybe a small gift card.
If anything, they should double down on the public shaming and post the video from it with close-ups of the perps.
Local outlet mall did a “Trick or treat” promo years ago. I took my then just walking son in his dinosaur costume for his first trick or treat experience. We got there 30 minutes after it started and our 1st five stores were cleaned out by groups of “teens” not in costume. locust types from nearby Birmingham. My wife snapped a pic of of my son with a sad and confused look on his face that still kinda jabs me in the guts. Fortunately, some stores had kept a reserve for costumed children and little ones, and his luck got better. I just got the feeling that the mall promoters did not expect what they actually got. I dont know if they ever did another.
Still is pretty much. Census data for Beavercreek:
White alone, percent84.7%
Black or African American alone, percent(a)2.9%
American Indian and Alaska Native alone, percent(a)0.1%
Asian alone, percent(a)5.2%
Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander alone, percent(a)0.1%
Two or More Races, percent6.0%
Hispanic or Latino, percent(b)3.5%
White alone, not Hispanic or Latino, percent82.7%
I also had this experience at a park and rec hunt twenty years ago. Never have gone to a public easter egg thing since.
We have a little hunt at home and then we go worship God. The candy stuff needs to be kept in its place.
Generally correct, but I fear history shows us that quite often the number will be inadequate. Even the early days of our American Revolution was a close call.
More modernly, the Left has learned to use a "soft" approach, some of which has only recently become noticeable. IMO, the Clinton's were/are only crooks, Obama has acted as a modern revolutionist and yet seems in play. Biden is in office due to a patently corrupt election, but Biden wasn't the mastermind of that election. And I am by nature a work-around type of optimist.
They should have hired Eric the Clown for security. He could do crowd control with his big shoe.
We need vidoes and names so people can be shamed publicly...though there are a huge # of people who have no shame anymore - about anything.
Ohio has gone to hell,,,,I will steer clear of Ohio during my travels.....
Guess who the perps were?
White Karens?
With the price of eggs being so high, the adults are probably posting their eggs on ebay. Seriously, these adults should be ashamed, but I assure you that they aren’t....Ugh.
I’m sure you and I are not the only ones wondering that.
It’s ODD that I can’t find a single video or a still pic of the carnage........................
I can answer that. The pushers were black.
Our church used to host an Easter Egg Drop, featuring thousands of plastic eggs filled with candy dropped from a helicopter. Every one of those eggs was filled by a church member.
We had similar rules to the Green’s, which, ironically is located just a few blocks away from the church.
And the same people showed up.
They ignored the rules and ruined it for everybody. My grandchildren only managed to get a few eggs each. They ran onto the field, pushing and shoving babies and toddlers. My own personal opinion is they were doing it out of spite.
The church discontinued the hunt after that.
The people who showed up weren’t local. They rode the RTA to get there.
Wonder why no pics...
Or when the EMP blast shuts down all power for months or years.
Of course, the way the greeniacs are going, we will be there soon without an EMP blast.
I’ve looked and looked and no pics or vids anywhere.........................
I did as well, very odd in this day and age.
No one over twelve should have been allowed on the egg area.
