Dick Van Dyke has smashed his car into a gate in Malibu after his Lexus skidded in the rain. The accident occurred on Wednesday morning in Malibu and police officers arrived at the scene to find Dick behind the wheel of his Lexus LS 500, reports TMZ.
The Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang star told the cops his car had skidded in the rain and he lost control of the steering before the Lexus smashed into the gate.
The crash came nearly ten years after Dick was involved in another car crash which saw him rescued from his burning Jaguar in Los Angeles.

He was definitely in a crash and was injured. No reports other than the Daily Mail that he died.
Was he in that? I missed it (who was he?)
As for Otto... Otto was right. If people weren’t lax about their every day jobs, the accident wouldn’t have happened (and everything after that).
Traffic accidents can have very serious consequences. Bruce Jenner was in a bad accident and it made him think he’s a woman.

Howie Carr is saddened.
Many decades ago Dick Van Dyke starred in a school PSA film on safe driving. In the tilm, DVD described an accident he was in back then! What the film dis not reveal was that he had had drinking issues around those years (since recovered).
And here I just managed to get my 84 year old dad to stop driving at night!
I live alone and am rural also.
Not sure exactly what I’m gonna do.
That crossing of my road and the 4 lane is bad and they are installiing a light now, trucks all over the place.
Like I said, I’ve got excuses for what happened, but still.....
“When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.”
― Will Rogers
I’ll never forgive him for bonking Laura Petrie when she was only a teenager!
Howie used to do the q-tip topic a lot—elderly drivers who mistook the gas pedal
for the brake. Now 71 and white haired himself.
Just Skiddin' In The Rain" ....
Oh, wait; wrong guy
I’ve seen interviews of him in the last couple of years. He is surprisingly articulate for that age. Have you ever seen his movie Cold Turkey from the early 7Os? Very funny.
Same age here and same concerns. No close calls but not driving all that much either due to night vision problems. Sucks getting old!
I have no sympathy for anyone at that age that drives and endangers other and likely knows that his faculties aren’t all there. I also despise anyone who votes to destroy my family and my country and that’s what this bonehead does. I don’t view him as good ole Rob Petry. I view him as just another commie who should be forced to spend a month in a communist country so he can actually witness what he’s endorsing.
Wow, driving at 97. God bless him.
Well,it took him ‘til 97 but he finally learned about hydroplaning and slippery when wet rain slick roads.
My dad has been driving less and my stepmom is slowly taking over. He is 76 turning 77.
I think they shouldn’t live by themselves, but they want to be independent.
There are places that are not safe for anyone but especially for older people. My husband has periods of mild dementia and sometimes he can look at things and not see them. I’m 68 and do fine driving but there are places I avoid. Maybe you can find a safer route?
