Electric cars have been increasing on American roads, partly because of massive government tax-incentives, and also because of looming mandates to ban gasoline-powered vehicles from states such as California.
While total vehicle sales fell in 2022, EV sales grew by a whopping 65%.
About 5.8% of the new cars Americans bought last year were electric with roughly 800,000 leaving the lot over the course of the year, according to the Kelley Blue Book. And Cox Automotive is forecasting that EV sales will hit 1 million in the U.S. for the first time in 2023
Widespread discounts and goverment incentives for EVs has also led to more demand, with EV sales growing by 10% in January over last year.
Last August, California banned the sale of all gas-powered vehicles by 2035, in a stunning move meant to force a national mandate for electric vehicles.
But the massive problems with these vehicles is giving many Americans pause, even as "green" activists and leftist politicians push harder than ever to remove all gas-power cars from our roads.
Last week's nationwide cold weather brought by the arctic blast has delivered a blunt reality check to some EV enthusiasts.
And one TikTok video that is going viral shows exactly why. Domenick Nati from Virginia, tried to charge his Tesla Model S but encountered some problems.
“I tried to charge it at my house, it won’t let me. So there’s no way to charge this battery or let it warm up in the cold.”
He then took the car to a Tesla Supercharger station and plugged it in but it failed to charge again.
The vehicle showed a message that the battery was heating and the car had a range of 19 miles at 1:11 pm.

I guess no one saw that coming.
What happened to the hybrid cars? Are they selling? If its battery dies, is there a spare battery to getting it running again on gas, in an emergency like this?
I ain't...
DMX’s former publicist and radio personality Domenick Nati gave an emotional speech on Instagram Friday where he described the rapper, who died the same day after being hospitalized for a heart attack, as a highly creative soul who had no regrets about life.
Nati, host of celebrity podcast “The Domenick Nati Show,” worked for the hip-hop legend from 2010 to 2014. He said DMX, born Earl Simmons, was “one of the most talented and most intelligent men and clients I have ever met.”
“The product will improve much faster or die a meaningful death.”
Then there is the issue of the electric grid—brownouts of the future—rapidly rising electric costs.
This “product” has crash and burn written all over it.
They're out there. Folks are buying the hype for long range full electric promising 200-300 or more miles per charge lie not realizing so many factors make them maybe 100 mile range. Hybrids are typically much less range, under a hundred miles, but the gas engine gets them to a destination when the charge dies where the ev just dies in place. There's a niche for the hybrid as a short range grocery getter, or school shuffle transport, but that's about it.
Sheesh - we barely do a hundred miles in two weeks. Talk about us being couch potatoes...
Where’s my flux capacitor car?? I’ve been patiently waiting.
My liberal sister bought a Prius, until she had to replace the battery. Now she drives a gas 600hp BMW.
They can talk the talk, but they can’t walk the walk when it comes to their own beliefs.
You are thinking of Mr Fusion that powers the flux capacitor….
I wonder what percentage of the alleged 65% was fleet sales to the public sector?
Inquiring minds want to know...
in my part of colorado, the EVs all go into hibernation during cold periods ... you see ‘em zipping around everywhere on warm sun-shiny days, and then they all suddenly disappear during cold weather ... it’s warmed up a bit now, so they’ve started coming out of hibernation ... obviously, EV automobiles have limited utility and have to be backed up by REAL automobiles ... sort of like windmills and solar panels being backed up by REAL electrical generation plants ...
IQ of a hamster.
indeed ... the battery and the chassis are one and the same ...
“What happened to the hybrid cars?”
hybrid cars are selling like hotcakes ... ALL their energy comes from an ICE ... they’re efficiency comes from regenerative braking, automatic engine stop/start and a relatively small buffer battery ...
Physics is a beyotch.
Lol, that’s hilarious.
A smarter way to travel.
Hey, those little African kids are GIVEN the best $.50 FLIP FLOPS money can buy.
