‘Lowes third-party delivery is killing their business single-handedly’: Customer catches Lowe’s delivery driver trying to avoid making appliance delivery

We’ve all had the experience of waiting at home for a delivery to arrive, only to discover a note on your door later in the day claiming that a delivery was attempted and failed.

If this has happened to you, you might be wondering how you could have missed your delivery if you were home all day. Now, TikTok user Michelle (@michellegwynn85) has gone viral after sharing her potential explanation.

In a video with over 3.6 million views, Michelle claims that she was waiting at home for a new washing machine to be delivered from Lowe’s. Rather than ring the doorbell and wait for her to answer, Michelle claims (with evidence from her video-enabled doorbell) that the driver simply honked his horn, ran to leave a note on the door, then drove away.

“Not a ring or a knock though I stayed home all day for a delivery,” she wrote in the caption. “The only thing offered was a 10% off a future purchase though we have no plans for future large purchases. We were also not able to get back on the delivery schedule for days and days.”

According to commenters, this is a common problem with Lowe’s delivery.

“I watched lowes pull up, walked out to greet them, and they booked it. claimed I wasn’t home,” alleged a user. “They didn’t even get out of the truck.”

“Same happened to me. I sent video and asked for compensation They gave me $350,” shared another.

“They delivered my in-laws new fridge and literally left it in the yard in the rain. Refused to help them get it inside,” claimed a third.

“”I think the problems are Geographic. Meaning, your service is as good as the workforce in the community you live in.””

I was thinking the same thing as I read this, my deliveries are all great.

I had a dishwasher delivered recently with installation but they refused to install. They left the dishwasher in the box in the middle of kitchen and walked out.

Ordered a Kitchen aid dishwasher from Lowes about 2 years ago. Had to wait 6 months for delivery by a 3rd party installer. First one they delivered the top was crushed like someone dropped an I-beam on it. The box showed no sign of damage. The guy took it back to Lowes to get another one. I told him to open in the store before bringing it. Got a call from him at the store telling me it was more damaged than the first. Waited another 2 months to get a another one delivered and installed. First time we used it found it was not installed correctly. Ended up doing the install myself.

Fed Ex and UPS are not any better. “Customer Service & Respect” is a lost and ancient concept.

Lowes isn’t the only one with problems. Had a Home Depot delivery (third party) deliver a refrigerator and afterwards found my wallet missing. I foolishly left it sitting out on a table in my kitchen, but I was present the whole time.

Interesting!
My sister had this exact problem in Ohio with a washer delivery— got a notice that they attempted delivery!
Months later sister just got one from the local appliance store.

Everything Failing Everywhere All At Once.

No Lowes or Home Despot story, but I live very rural and have become mobility handicapped as I age out. My regular maillady knows this, and goes out of her way to get packages close to my door. But her sub is a lazy DO* who drops them in my driveway, (in the rain, which he did yesterday).

“I complained to Lowe’s as far up in management as I could”

When I was 26 years old, I returned from a two year stint overseas only to find Crocker Bank had “lost” my bank account with $25,000. The bank manager was a major butthole and actually said “You probably bounced a check.”

I didn’t bother with any underlings but wrote to the company president, with a cc to the SVP of customer accounts and another cc to the banking commission in Sacramento. I had to go to the library to find the book that listed the executives names and addresses, but it got results.

My account was restored a day or two later and thereafter the branch manager became very polite to me with “Mr.” this and “Sir” that.

Oh, I’ve got a great Lowes delivery story. I have a pretty long driveway, but it is paved and in good shape. Well I purchased a large refrigerator at Lowes, waited around all day and heard nothing, so that evening I went out to do some shopping. They had sat the Refrigerator at the end of the driveway right in the middle of it so nobody could get in or out. Left a note saying they couldn’t get up the driveway (which is ridiculous, they only use a small box truck and I’ve had full size semis deliver furniture and get turned around just fine. I had to call around and find somebody with a pickup that could come up and bring it up to the house, after I PAID for in-home installation and for them to haul off the old one. Even when I called the store, they weren’t particularly apologetic, they did refund my delivery and installation fee but not so much as an apology for the inconvenience, not to mention leaving the new refrigerator sit where anybody could have pulled up and stolen it.

Wow, feeling very lucky to have gotten our washing machine delivered on time without a hitch by Lowes a couple of months ago.

I guess it depends on your location. When having a fridge and stove delivered in the fall of 2019, Lowes gave us a two hour window of delivery for the following day. The driver called us when they left the store, confirmed the address and showed up within 30 minutes (we live 15 miles from the store).

Those big hulking guys practically threw those appliances on their shoulders and brought them in and placed them in designated spots. They hooked them up, set the timer on the stove clock, and made sure both appliances were working. They personally handed me the paperwork on both items, wished us a good day and were gone within a hour and a half or so from the time they arrived. About 20 minutes of that time was discussing politics and religion.

I live in a small town with a Lowes but buy appliances from a family owned appliance store. Prices are close enough that it doesn’t matter. Service? Another world. I have dealt with the same people for nearly 20 years.

It depends where you live. Where I am, fedex is more reliable. Local ups is very hard and damaging on packages.

I actually had a good recent experience with this. Got an emergency fridge. Delivery company guys were nice, and actually pointed out some damage on the first one, so they took it back and next week got the second one, which had a barely noticeable issue - got some money back to keep it. The truck guys were good. What is sad is how companies now pack appliances, thats why so many get dinged and damaged. No heavy cardboard, just styrofoam on edges and shrink-wrapped around.
